Gibbo

I would have to agree with you there, superficially I prefer the 360 CS to the scuderia, unfortunately not had the pleasure of driving them :( :p

I actually meant from a driving point of view. Aesthetics are subjective, but IMHO the last of the 360's just felt as though it was far more than simply the sum of its parts. The 430 didn't feel that way to me, although again I should add that I haven't tried a Scuderia.

Sorry to break up the thread a bit, some things down at work today, so lets have some ford pimpage, seems relevant in this thread :D

and no that is not me

pah, the CSL was slow. Even me and Paradigm could keep up with it.

we couldn't really

Hi there

Mustang is a lot faster on straights....

Corner speed wise can't really comment on yet until I get chance to take some of my favourite CSL corners in dryer weather to see how the Mustang stacks up.

Yes the CSL handles better, but corner speed might not be much in it. Basically lots of chicanes and tight turns expect the CSL to be faster but on medium to high speed corners probably not much in it at all.

Put it this way, today wet roundabout me in front, Slackworth behind in 330d and I could take the roundabout at higher speed without the backend jiggling wheras Slackers 330D was stepping out and could not keep up, so its certainly not a hopeless American tank and that was in the wet. :)

Christ on a motorcycle Gibbo your motor car is beuatiful. I'd have to pay someone to clean it for me though as i'm too lazy. But then i'd shoot them when they used a high pressure hose on my front bumper and took some paint off. Thanks very much valet place under a giant box where mail is put in Birmingham.

Ahem.

Huh?

I drive a Golf as my everyday car so I can park it anywhere, lug stuff to the tip, give people a lift and generally not give a crap about it. It's not a car I bought to impress anyone, it's a practical, reliable cheap car which I bought for a purpose and it serves that purpose perfectly so I'm not sure what you're getting at?

I'm sure I remember you saying that you now enjoy the Golf so much that the Elise isn't getting enough use and will therefore be sold?

Personally I couldn't think of anything worse than wafting around at 56mph in a 530i

Me neither, complete waste, only time you'll find me doing 56mph is for a split second as I accelerate to more suitable speeds.

Wow a 200bhp diesel couldnt keep up with a 600bhp Mustang? These Mustangs are amazing :p

Ah yes your one of those BMW drivers aint you who keeps there foot to floor on wet roundabouts and lets DSC do the work. ;)

100BHP, 200BHP, 500BHP or 1000BHP not much use on a wet roundabout are they. More down to the cars outright grip and handling on getting it round and oh maybe the DSC system. :p

Simple fact the Mustang is not suited to wet roads and flying around roundabouts, but it was able to take such a roundabout at greater corner speed with no dramatics. Wheras an E46 330D with Goodyear tyres, DSC and advanced independent reas modern suspension was unable to corner as fast and was stepping out. :p

Yeah in a straight line on a dry road the difference shows. :D

Fact is Mustang is generally crap in the wet, you can press on but have to be very very smooth or its gonna bite big time. In the dry its night and day different, huge levels of grip and decent handling. In the wet it slides very easily which can be fun though but is also annoying when you cant use half the power as it simply spins the wheels as the Mustang has no advance DSC like system unfortunately that you can switch on when you want or need it.

Without meaning to offer any disrespect to poor Slackworth I'd have thought your ability behind the wheel at speed is noticeably superior to his simply by virtue of your greater experience.

HI there

Slackworth is a class one nutcase, with balls of steel. :D

You could be right but we both chuck our cars round such roundabout most days as its en-route to the gym. His car stepped out either due to his heavy foot but I doubt that as he aint dumb enough to floor a torquy diesel in such conditions on a roundabout or the car simply went beyond its lateral grip.

I will be honest and say I could have probably gone faster in the CSL but there again dunno, both cars command slightly different driving styles to get the most out of them and its hard to compare anything in the wet. I am just looking forward to dry weather as there were certain corners I knew my max safe speed in the CSL and be interesting to see how the Stang compares. The CSL is more chuckable for sure, but it was smaller and lighter so one would expect.
