Have you had it working at all?

Bios version?

Are you sure the board isn't borked!?

hi
OK when i say its not working i mean the old stop/start prob.
once it boots its stable. in dual mode with the corsair ddr2 twina 2gb pc6400c5
it does not start but boots with 1 stick after about 20 trys .
with the Geil (gx22gb5300dc)x2 it takes up to 10 trys but sometimes boots after 3.
bios f3g

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) works fine on DQ6 with no BIOS changes or upgrades - so should work on DS3/4 - Running some tests now and will let u know if not OK

Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX (2x1GB) (MY-092-CS)
vs
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) (MY-058-GL)
Witch one would be best for my DS4(F3 bios) and E6300

From what i've read I would say the DQ6 board is the most troublesome of all.... Personally if it were me I would send it back to where you got it from, along with your ram and ask them to test it all......

If they can't get it to work, then get a refund and get something else!

There are a lot of ds3/ds4/ds6 users on these forums and there is plenty of other threads regarding these mobos on other forums. Gigabyte are getting a huge amount of feedback on these mobo problems (I have no problems at all with my setup using bios F4e) so hopefully they will be coming out with better bioses in the near future.

I must admit sticky-ing this thread is not a bad idea.

Just to show that my Corsair twinX ddr2 6400C4 works fine in this board

I can comfirm that it works in the DS3/DS4

And that only with 1.8V on the Ram
it like the ram does not like mto much voltage on htem as my over clocks gets better when not putting more that 2Volts though them

G.Skill HZ memory is compatible with the DS4 with F3 bios, it even defaults to the correct timings now. I suspect G-Skills other memory is also now compatible....

hmm thats odd myn was defaulting to cas 5 i had to set it manually to 4 same with the voltages was defaulting to 1.8 O_o

I'm not saying that the Ram i've listed as incompatible applies 100% of the time, it actually seems to be a little hit & miss with a few of them....

My XMS2 has casued me great problems and I haven't even been able to get to the bios stage with mine..... And I find it very hard to believe that both sticks of this ram are borked!

I've tried:

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 NR PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS5

and

Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX

With a DS4

Both relatively ok at stock sppeds but the reboot problem starts at an overclock of as little as 5mhz fsb even with voltages slightly increased.

When it does boot eventually, it does seem to be ok

What bios version are you running? I would guess by what you stated that it's probably the F2 version......

Try flashing to the f3 version here - http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_Model.aspx?ProductID=2288

You have the DS3 or the DS4?

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC)
only works with f3 bios ..(on my setup anyway) had to buy lower speed ram to flash bios :)

thats been used on both boards thats why i said that this ram is ok and run just fine, just thinks monster munch had bad luck in the set he had and that why it did not work for him but so far we are two using them with no problems.

If you chould not get to the bio stage i whould put it drown to Duff ram nothing else unless some of your orther hardware was borken :p

What frequency were you putting in manually? if you are putting in anything as low as 266-333mhz the ram will not boot up properly because of the timings of the G.Skill ram you have to manually put in 333mhz(G.sKILL) or more for it to boot properly.I had the same problem would reboot if i manually put in 266 in the cpu host clock so i tried 333mhz and it worked properly and i was able to overclock no problem..
