Gigabyte DS3/DS4/DQ6 Guide

I am sure there is something wrong with my 965P-DS3 Rev 3.3 because it cant seem to boot with an fsb any higher than 334.

I have tested this by lowering my multi and seeing how high I can get it but it wont budge past 334 without shutting down after just booting up, I cant even get passed the boot screen. I have upped the volts as suggested at the start of this thread and its definatly not my memory as I have had that running at 850mhz by upping the divider.

So what could it be, I am running the F12 bios btw.

Thanks, Sam

E4300 and yes I have disabled everything, the cpu shouldnt come into it when I lower the multi right down to see what I can get out of the FSB as I think its that what is holding me back.

Guys is x9 the highest multiplier for the DS3R boards I thought I read in some reviews that they go higher?

My board is rev 1.1 and 9 is the highest  with F2 bios

EDIT: I can see an F4 beta bios? Has anyone installed that?

Your multiplier will be limited by the CPU you use in the board.

I noticed the F12 was out for the DS3 but the DS4 latest is F10

Is it because the DS4 came out later?

DS3 = F12 2007/05/28 1. Add support for new super IO version
DS4 = F10 2007/05/28 1. Add support for new super IO version

Hi Guys,
Wasnt sure if to post this in the Overclocking section or here, but I am sure a mod will move if needed.

Anyhooo just got myself the GA-P35C-DS3R and liking it a lot.
Flashed the board with latest F2 BIOS.

I am a little hazy on getting the best out of my ram with this board.

I am happy with clocking the CPU but not so sure on the RAM settings.

Q. Do I use the System Memory Multiplier (SPD), and if so what do I set it at to get my RAM running at 400MHz, 4-4-4-12

Q. Or do I use the DRAM Timing Selectable (SPD), and if so do I set it at Manual or Auto.
If set to Auto do I set the top four settings to 4-4-4-12 respectively.

Thought I would post a few cpu-z and BIOS shots.
Cheers Guys.

OK here's a weird one. I have a DS3P rev2.0 that allegedly only supports up to a 1066 fsb. On Gigabytes website for this board, on the CPU compatiability list here it says that from the F5 bios it will take any of the new 1333 fsb cpu's apart from the QX6850. I contacted Gigabyte about this and they basically said that if you drop in one of the new cpu's (E6850 in my case) it will be properly detected and work as intended. So that's a bonus then. No new motherboard needed. :D

Hi, Im looking at getting an E6550 and a P35C-DS3R early next week. I was just wondering what RAM you would recommend? I was looking at the OCZ 2GB DDR2-6400 Platinum (£66), the Ballistix DDR2-5300 (£64), or the Geil DDR2-6400 Value (£61). I cant much over £70 on the RAM, and would like 2gb of it. I will be using the PC for gaming and overclocking mildly (no more than 3Ghz.)

Which RAM would you buy? Ive heard that the Ballistix has some OCing trouble with this mobo. Also, does the fact that it is only 667mhz compared to 800 make a difference when OCing, or can that just be sorted with RAM dividers?

The Ballistix runs fine in the Gigabyte P35 boards, and it's the better choice.

It may be rated at PC5300, but it will do in excess of 1000mhz no problem. Neither of the two PC6400 you mentioned will get that far.

hello all.
really need some help here please!

just became a member of the Gigabyte fan club, Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R (from asus, 939 stuff)
but...

after getting my new parts today,
im having a lot of problems,

i hope the members using this thread can help me

i made a thread in general, but i think this thread will be better for it.
my problem is...

my new spec is...

Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 & DDR3 Motherboard
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8500 1066MHz SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2N1066SR2GK)
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)
Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-620HXUK)
2x 74gig / raid - raptors.
512mb ATI Sapphire x1900xtx

i first put it all together carefully...
went to power her up... it powered up for about a second then turned itself off. then a second later turned back again.... :/ (found out its a overclocking saftey feature, scared me at first)

the only bleep i get is 1 long, then sometimes around 10 seconds later, i get another 1 long bleep...
- i took one of the ocz sticks out, but still same problem,
- no boot/post

no display either on monitor...

dont know what to do... if you look back at my previous threads.. kinda same problems. but this is a little different and totaly new parts

anyone got some help at hand?
what could be the problem?

I got that as well on my new GA-G33M-DS2R.
No idea why it beeps so long.
Strangely, the long beep sounds different too from the normal speaker sound beep.
Also had that on my DQ6.

yep im sure, as i tested it with my uncles card in my pc, and visa versa ;)

both works, just will not BOOT/POST or display anything on the screen,
pc just starts up, and 1 long bleep...

everything then spins max, from moment i press power :(
