Gigabyte DS3/DS4/DQ6 Guide

Stick just the p35cds3r.f4 file on a floppy or a memory stick and use the Q-Flash option in the BIOS to update it (press F8 inside the BIOS to start Q-Flash).

Remember to reset to default any overclocking settings before trying to flash the BIOS.

just 1 question regarding memory:

is geil 2gb pc6400ull a good choice to go in pair with p35c-ds3r mobo [any known issues, incompatibilities;]]? or it would be better to go for ocz platinum 2gb kit ?

what kind of fsb are folk getting on these boards. just got a ds3p with some ballistix 6400 + e2180. wont go any higher than 370fsb. should it be able to go higher? Bios settings the same as mentioned at the beginning of the thread except i have the multiplier at 6. Mem at 2.2v. Will boot at 300x10 no probs.

Hi
A coupel of questions on the P35 DS3R

Does everyone get the 'pelase wait while we search for the SATA devices'? never had that on my boot up with previous mobos (ABIT, ASROCK) - its a bit annoying

Also that is on the INTEL SATA controller - how ocmes the board also has a Gigabyte controller (according to the manual) and is it worth using that one?

Also, I have oen SATA drive i have set up as ACHI - is this better than setting it up as a normal PATA one?

Finally, anyoen used that express rescue thing and is it any good?

I only use the intel one for my raid stuff.. The gig one for hot connecting sata devices, i used the backplate and plugged em into the gig controller.

I have the P35C-DS3R and i'm very impressed with its audio performance with Reason 4. Although for audio input of things like a guitar / voice i'd use a digital mic. This is what i use and its simply awesome for the money: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SP-016-LG

What I want to do is conenct it direct and then do effects processing on the signal.

I had an ASROCK mobo before and the built in SC coudlnt handle the signal properly.

Do you ever conenct it direct? i.e line in?

I've not used line in yet, but the line out is very clean for an onboard card so i suspect the input side should be just as good. I've sold my synths on now and i've got nothing to plug in to try it for you.

Anyone had any issues with the ethernet port on the DS3? I think mine is hosed, even the BIOS doesn't detect it anymore.

Update:

Nevermind, spent about 3 hours trying to fix it, did several bios resets and tried to run a program to flash the Marvell EEPROM from the Gigabyte FAQ. Not having a floppy drive it's nearly impossible to get a DOS prompt outside windows. I ended up installing a floppy drive to find out that the program can't detect the network adapter either!

In the end I did a cold reset and it fixed it instantly.

Hi, I've got a GA-965P-DS3 and would like to upgrade my CPU can someone say which one would be a good buy.

Also, I haven't upgraded the bios (ever?) but I can't work out how to find out which rev I have, there seem to be about 3 on the Gigabyte site? Any help?
