Gigabyte DS3/DS4/DQ6 Guide

put the other file on a floppy disk, reboot and use the Q-Flash utility which you will see when you reboot or go into the bios. then follow the on-screen instructions.

or is there something i am missing?

or do exactly the same as this but use a USB stick instead.

i'm not sure the q-flash sees flash drives :(

here is how you make a usb flash drive bootable i.e. get a dos prompt:

http://i.thepcspy.com/USB_Boot.zip (pasta is the password to unzip, not sure why it is password protected).

run the utiliy (BACK UP USB DRIVE FIRST AS IT FORMATS IT) and then copy the files autoexec.bat etc in the other directory onto the usb after you have run the install.

then copy your new bios and the flash895 exe on there. once you boot, run the flash895.exe using the switches pointing to the new bios. i dont know the switches off the top of my head so run:

flash895.exe /?

I got my CPU set at 1.55 in bios but its actually been reported as 1.50 by Speedfan.

I'm still on F2 bios, is it really essential for me to update my bios??

Q-Flash does work with flash drives I've done it.

Anyone know if its something that needs to be done when you're running F2 bios, is F4 Bios any different?

F4 probably activated the memory performance option. It gives a large boost to memory bandwidth when set to Turbo and Extreme.
