Gigabyte DS3/DS4/DQ6 Guide

Right, i'm a complete n00b with other clocking.
I wanna push my Q6600 higher and i dont have a know what exactly i need to change in the bios.

Should the general rule of thumb, leave multiplier 9x and up the fsb, and if things dont boot add more volts?

That's right Schizo:) Also watch the divider for the FSB : RAM. coz if it's at 1:1 you will automatically start overclocking your RAM, if so.. you need to up the voltage for the RAM if it won't boot :)

Yip it has the Ctrl+F1 method to unveil the timings.

The divider is called the Memory Multiplier (x2.0 is 1:1) and the RAM voltage is the DDR2 Overvoltage Control option (Normal is 1.8v, +0.1v is 1.9v, etc etc).

:( My 5 month old P35C-DS3R is Dead, poped an IC

still can't get into bios with my Saitek Eclipse Keyboard

usb keyboard support is enabled, any other ideas?

My logitech G15 didn't work the first time after my upgrade... (it allowed me to access the BIOS, but Windows failed to recognise it). So I plugged in an old PS/2 keyb, rebooted, fiddled with the BIOS settings (can't remember what I changed, see below), got into Windows, then rebooted again and *bingo* the G15 was working from startup, and through into Windows.
(Note that I didn't reinstall Windows for this upgrade, so it had the G15 drivers already loaded)

As I understand it, the usb keyboard support is to do with DOS recognising the keyboard, not for general stuff... I don't think it makes any difference. I think I may have switched it to on when I booted for the very first time, and then switched it back off after reading the manual :]

so basically you dont know what you did it was pure luck  not only that he does in actual fact say "still cant get into bios".

harris1986> any way you can try it in a different machine? one more thing, if you cant get into bios with that keyboard i am assuming you used a different keyboard to find out that the usb keyboard is enabled?

Well, ok take potshots at me if you like, the end result of my (vaguely) analogous experience was that trying a PS/2 keyboard seemed to help.

I shan't try to be helpful in future, that way I can avoid making any mistakes.

Oh,

stop being defensive i'm not taking potshots i am pointing out that you wrote gibberish and it was not helpful in the slightest. plug in a ps/2 keyboard boot into windows, fiddle with bios settings is essentially the advice you just gave.

What you wrote is going to be confusing for the reader is all i am trying to say. not have a go for giving advice.

His reply was probably a damn sight better than your 'Have you tried a different keyboard?' answer

Lets go back to what i actually said:

Harris1986> any way you can try it in a different machine? one more thing, if you cant get into bios with that keyboard i am assuming you used a different keyboard to find out that the usb keyboard is enabled?

"assumed he'd tried a different keyboard [in that machine]", i was asking if the obvious checks have been done (given that he knows already that the bios seting for usb keyboard is enabled as he stated).

My actual suggestion was to try his new keyboard in a different machine, to make sure it was actually working elsewhere.

I understand what you were trying to do there Cob, but you should get your facts straight first, as it discredits you, rather than me.

You were stating the obvious, dude.

That's perfectly fine. But you don't have grounds (or indeed the right) to tell anyone else what they can or cannot post in a discussion thread. Especially if that person has encountered the problem that is currently being discussed :)

What you wrote is going to be confusing for the reader is all i am trying to say. not have a go for giving advice.

Cob, i dont want to argue about this no one will win.

As I stated above i was "advising" RostokMcSpoons to post something that was not confusing to the person he was trying to advise i.e. isnt gibberish. "you dont have the grounds to tell people", i think i do have them, in the same way as you do for telling me, but thats a different debate altogether.

Again, i know what you are trying to do and i will admit; i was a mite bit hard on RostokMcSpoons, so sorry about that.

I did that and then it came up with autoexec and flash895 with the another file for the actual BIOS.

However when i use the @BIOS utility, grab 1.21 and then choose to load the bios from the net it picks up F5 which doesn't exist on the gigabyte website:rolleyes:
