Gigabyte DS3/DS4/DQ6 Guide

Hi guys, I have a GA-P35-DS4 and am having some problems with OC my setup

Below is my setup:

Intel Q6600 Quad Processor
Crucial 1 x 2 Ballastix DDR2 RAM 8500 1022Mhz
GIGA GA-P35-DS4 Motherboard.
Arctic Freezer Pro 7
Asaka Mirage Case (with 2 build in standard fans)

I have increased the FSB to 333 and the Multiplier to 9 and the VCore up 1 increment to 1.318 to make it stable. I checked the freqs of the processors and they are 2400 - I've not seen an increase in speed.

I am trying to achieve 3Ghz or 3.2Ghz. What do I need to do to the CPU/Memory settings? Currently my memory settings are untouched
 
I can't understand why you haven't seen an increase in speed if like you say you've increased the fsb speed and kept the multiplier at stock. What program are you using to check the cpu speed? Because it might just be showing it at stock. If you're not already, try using cpu-z, and also checking the speed whilst its under load (such as when running Orthos), in case speedstep's interfering.
 
Hi closeratio - I turned speedstep off in BIOS so I could monitor the increase the speed.

I am using CPU-Z to check my speed. What I found was the FSB was already set at 333MHz so my original post was slightly misleading...sorry.

To increase the speed further what do you advise? Increase the FSB?
 
Yeah it's probably better if you increase the FSB speed. To my knowledge you can't increase the multipliers on the q6600's past their stock settings (9 i assume). I could be wrong though, although you'd get a better performance gain if you upped the fsb speed.

Just make sure that you're not running your RAM any faster than stock speeds, so you'll want to watch the mem multiplier as well.
 
Whats the best LAN drivers to use on the P35C DS3R? I'm using ones from the site but even now and again Internet Explorer or Opera stop loading web pages, just keeps on trying to load but nothing :confused: the only thing that solves it is a re isntall of windows :confused:

Any idea if this is to do with the mobo's LAN drivers?

Something similar happened to me a couple of days ago.I installed the latest Lan drivers from the Gigabyte site an hour or so later got the same problem as you.I knew it wasn`t my connection because my M/B pro was still online.I had to do a system restore to get back online again.F6 bios, explorer & firefox. It hasn`t happened since.
