Gigabyte DS3/DS4/DQ6 Guide

Install the chipset drivers as soon as Vista is finished installing.

And you won't need a boot disk or a SATA driver floppy to install Vista on that board.

So should i whack them on CD or will it be ok just to quickly install it from a seperate HD while in windows for the 1st time?

I take it this mean i ignore all computer wanting to install every device, and i just go for this one 1st?

Yip install them from a storage hard drive.

You shouldn't get any of the computer wanting to install drivers messages on first boot. Vista will actually pre-install all the drivers for you (apart from graphics ofcourse). You only need to install drivers so that you are using the newest available.

ok cheers, will pop them on a USB stick and transfer them on 1st boot.

Whiloe am in here, my DS3R keeps resetting itself, usually when i swap windows profiles when the CPU is overclocked.

Today i put one of the things you plug in the wall to turn off electrical equipment, and for the 1st time since bumping the voltage some 8+ days ago the computer reset under stock speeds.

Which leads me to think either the computer is getting a dodg ycurrent from the wall, or the PSU is at 400w underpowered.

Well i can rule out one tomorrow as a 600w OCZ is arriving from OC, so at least thats one less thing to contemplate.

I've never seen so much trouble with a MOBO manufactuer all at once, i deeply regret buying this board and would love to get my money back and go ASUS or ABit.

There isn't a divider, it calls it a multiplier, and has a range of preset values you can select (they're all what you multiply the fsb by, so if you had 800Mhz memory and your true fsb was 400Mhz, you'd use the 2x multiplier). Btw Yanto how's your rig going? is everything sorted yet?

so what do you use to get the RAM running slower than its stock?

so say I wanted the FSB at 333mhz, and my ram at 667mhz, I'd have it set at x2?

And yes I got my rig all working thanks :D

ByteJuggler came round to try his RAM and it worked. But it was more complex than that I posted a conclusion in the "Vista keeps crashing..." thread.

yeah that's it. I think it shows what it's running at after you apply the multiplier directly below it. I don't think there are any multipliers less than 2 though if you want to run your RAM any slower. I could be wrong though.

Good stuff, it's about time it was all working correctly lol. Ill take a look at that thread as well :)

ok cheers guys :)

got it to 3ghz so far....

Is there anyone with a P35c DS3R (pref of any GA) with 4 x 1gb GeiL 6400 and an overclocked CPU out there that works and is stable?

Just im going to have to RMA my GeiL, and i need to get more memory in to do so, so was wondering if it was worth my while getting more GeiL and keeping the RMA when it returns?

I got a P35C DS3R with 2GB GeIL and 2GB Ballistix overclocked and an E6600 @ 3.4 and it seems to be fine apart from the odd memory problem were I thought my ballistix ram just died when it did not.

So 4gb mixed.

What kind of problem? What happened.

I think 1gb stick has died on me, computer runs fine without it, when its in it just beeps at me and doesn't even post. Since i've had it (month) all this rig has done is reset and reset.

How much have you over volted the mem in the BIOS?

The GeIL ram is at stock 2.1V and the Ballistix is undervolted my 0.1V so its at 2.1V.

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17816248 I described my problem in this thread. Try putting that 1GB stick back in again and see what happenes.

The 1gb stick doesn't work at mobo stock volts (1.8) or with it with 0.3+ on it either.

The stick i think is dead.

So in the BIOS you put in 0.3+ did you for 2.1v?

Everyone has been saying this, then someone has said that this board volts the mem up by two already so that could be causing problems.

Yes 0.3+ I have it set at.
