Gigabyte DS3/DS4/DQ6 Guide

Is it just me, or is the lowest Mem multiplier on the P35C-DS3R x2.5?

Because if it isn't I can't for the life of me find anything lower. Lowest setting is x2.5

*EDIT* Doh! Found it. What dozy bugger decided not to order them in numerical order?

Right just to let people know I've sorted out my problems.

and basically here's some advice for you...

Don't pair PC5400 XMS2 Coirsair RAM with the Gigabyte P35C-DS3R, the motherboard overvolts the ram by 0.1v, and that ram isnt very volt tollerent, and has to be running at no higher than 1.8v. Thus causing instability.

I've got Corsair 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 XMS2 Memory Non-ECC Unbuffered CL5(5-5-5-12) and ran the memtest over and over again and no problems. The only thing thats crashing is my 8800GT as it gets too hot.

Hi everyone,

Am just after a bit of inforamtion. Are there any HSF issues with the GA-P35-DS4. I was about to buy one with an Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro, then was told that its not compatable? Is there a list of what is, or isn't compatable with this mobo

Cheers

did yours overvolt?

which RAM are you using? the 6400 or the 5400?

Mine did overvolt, but I'm using the 6400 (with the shiny silver heatsinks lol). But what I meant was how RAM like yours, even if it is only the 533Mhz stuff, doesn't like to be overvolted. Because I mean I'd understand if it was the standard Corsair value RAM, but because it's XMS2 i assumed it would. I guess not all performance RAM likes to be overvolted :)

Hi, just looking to buy one of these, but can somebody answer a simple question, are these both the same boards apart from raid:
Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3
Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R

the reason I ask is that I don't actually need Raid but it would be handy to have this if I ever came to selling the board/pc on??

So are they both the exact same boards then apart from this, and is there a better chance of picking up a Rev. 2 in any particular model??

thanks.

They all have JMicron RAID, tho only from the 'R' upwards have both JMicron and Intel RAID.

These are the differences, tho the P35C-DS3 isn't listed, but I would expect it to be the same as the standard DS3 other than the DDR3 slots.

Thanks, according to the Gigabyte website the Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3 only seems to have a Revision 2.
I assume this will will be same sort of spec as the Revision 2 of the GA-P35C-DS3R.

Ok thanks, took a chance on getting a Revision 2 of the GA-P35C-DS3R. If it is Rev. 1 I won't be too bothered though tbt.

I have a GA-X38-DQ6 mobo and having a problem with it. The 1st PCI-E-16x slot is only running at 1x according to ATI CCC and CPU-Z. When I put the GFX card in the other slot I get full 16x on it. When I stick both my HD-2900-Pros in it I'm only getting video output from the card in the second slot and nothing from the card in the 1st slot. It doesn't even show up in the windows device manager. Everything's at stock.

Any ideas?

My Setup.

GA-X38-DQ6
Q6600
2x2GB RAM
2xHD-2900 Pro 1024MB
Thermaltake 850W PSU
1x Sata HDD
1x Sata DVD-RW Drive

I have a DS3P with an E4300 running at 300fsb x 9 (2.7ghz).

Just had a power outage and my PC obviously lost power (no UPS).

When i tried to switch back on, I'd get a weird beep which I haven't heard before and nothing.
a few more tries, the beep changed but still nothing.

eventually it managed to boot but it had lowered the clock speed of my E4300 back to default.
I go into the bios and check the PC health and next to 3.3v it says "Fail" in bright red.
I tinkered and 3.3v went back to "OK".
tried to boot windows it crashed and the 3.3V went back to fail.

My clock speed is back down to 1.8 and 3.3v says "OK" and windows is now running.

Any ideas what the problem may be?

P35c DS3R owner here.

I'm getting a new HD and will be doing a fresh install and upgrading my O/S to Vista 64, and was wondering if i need to make a boot disk/cd before installing the o/s.

The HD will be a Raptor btw.

Ta.

I don't think you need to I installed vista 32 onto my raptor fine with just the cd not sure if 64 bit will make a difference

What about chipset drivers?

I've downloaded a newer version, i can put them over the top, but is this not the thing thats best to put on before a OS install?

I didn't do this will my last epox mobo, and ever since never got full SATAII and my DVD drive only played DVDs and could not read game DVDS (i had to copy the disk onto the HD to install a game).

So i want this one to be right.

Install the chipset drivers as soon as Vista is finished installing.

And you won't need a boot disk or a SATA driver floppy to install Vista on that board.
