Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z87

how are you finding the onboard Core3d creative audio chip for positional sound via a headphone?

i have some Sennheiser HD 518 and just wonder whether a dedicated card would give better positional sound ?

ok another question, anyone having an issue where when you start your pc you lose the audio? I have a red x down at the bottom right and no audio output very often, as it is as i type. I have restarted windows and its still the same, i had noticed that it can be fixed sometimes by taking out the speaker jack at the rear and re inserting it, but not always.

Seems the device disappears from everywhere pic says it all.

I've read about this and I think they said a reboot normally fixes it, but obviously not in your case. I think it was a driver issue or something,
I got mine today, so will see how it goes when I install it.

have you installed the sound drivers for the board? not what windows installs

you might need jack detection enabled and the standard ms drivers doesn't have that feature, you can also disable the amd audio see if that's affecting things

yep i have the drivers installed, as you can see it not even listed in device manager. Here is a link to others having issues with the chip on other sniper models.

Taken advice and disabled amd audio just out of curiosity.

Just wish they made this mobo with blue or white highlights instead of green :( totally thows colour scheme off, i want this mobo but i cant live with the green lol

it comes from tweaktown forums, they don't include the fixes but are safe to use, plus you can flash back to prev bios if you want

ive used them on and off for years without any trouble

Many thanks will take a look and see if any improvement :)
Gigabyte tech support have read my message i sent to them so hoping for a reply soon, only contacted them yesterday evening.

I know what you mean, but i actually like the green :)

Yeah problem for me is im getting compontents that are either black, white or have some element of blue.

Phantek Case - Blue LED - White Fans - Black case
Swiftech H320 - Black Rad - White Fans
NZXT G10 for my 290 - White
Antec Kuhler - White LED for the GPU
Team Ram - White

This mobo would fit the build superbly but then i would end up with a streak of green :( would look out of place. Gigabyte Z87-SLI i guess is the closest i can get to the features of this mobo?

Well mine is up and running, just installing windows and that at the moment.
I know what you mean about the colours as I have a blue and black theme to, I think I saw an option in the bios where you can turn the LED's off, as thats the only green I can see when I look in my case. The rest doesn;t really stand out tbh.

tried the bios and its very unstable on my machine so gone back to F1 for now, as even stock clocks i was having issues with blue screens etc. Where as with F1 the system is stable in that respect.
Bloody Audio device, Hope gigabyte get back to me soon.
