Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z87

Getting whea uncorrectable error bsod shortly after logging into windows with your settings, will have to play around some more, I've a crap chip I think.

what you cooling it with ? and i have done aida64 extreme and unigine and 3dmark and vantage and run battlefield for an hour or so and get no problems at all, and i have my gpu ocd as well :)

Noctua d14.

I've found if I set the vcore manually to 1.18 volts (stock) my temps peak at 76c, going to 1.25v temps reach in excess of 85c.

I'm starting to wonder if I put too much thermal paste on the cpu

Is it possible to change the DDR voltage on these? I've been trying for a while, its set to 1.35V. I have Samsung greens. I dont have the 3D voltage control for some reason and I cant enable XMP, but I'm guessing thats because my memory doesn't support it.

no the sam green wont support xmp

dram voltage should be in the bios somewhere, for my z77 gigbyte im running them at 2133mhz with 1.55v dram

you should be able to run them faster, around 2200mhz-2400mhz with upto 1.65v at a guess

tried the bios and its very unstable on my machine so gone back to F1 for now, as even stock clocks i was having issues with blue screens etc. Where as with F1 the system is stable in that respect.
Bloody Audio device, Hope gigabyte get back to me soon.

Hmmm supposed to enhance system stability

New BIOS:

GA-Z87X-OC - F7e
G1.Sniper Z87 - F2b <<<<
GA-Z87X-UD5H - F8d
GA-Z87X-UD3H - F8j

Updated mine to f2b too, haven't had any problems with it as of yet.
I did have a cold boot issue before updating though, this morning in fact - before updating the Bios, the computer froze on the windows boot logo and again at the Bios. Hopefully this Bios will have fixed that, pc has been running all day i'm afraid to turn it off lol.

System keeps on freezing up on me everything I remove the power plug, plug it back in and boot. Sometimes it'll freeze on the windows logo, then pressing reset and heading into the bios sometimes causes that to freeze too. It's only after a couple minutes or so the pc operates fine, passing all major stress tools, linx, occt, heaven, at least one hour on each, many times over.

Something else odd happened earlier on, I was gaming in bf4 and around 2 hours in I could hear crackling from the headphones. I use my headphones with an external dac, I've tried pulling out the optical wire and usb cable from the pc, noise was still present, even though the pc and dac wasn't connected other than at the plug extension.
With the buzzing still present I turned off my computer and the buzzing stopped, I turned it back on again, as soon as I hit the power button I could hear crackling/buzzing, remember the dac and pc aren't connected.

So there is an electrical problem here I think, not sure what's responsible, but when I turn my pc on, it is sending noise through the power cable to my dac causing a buzzing noise to be heard.

What's wierd is this only happens after a long period of gaming, when I turn my pc off, leave it for a while, turn it back on, no buzzing at all. But even turning the pc back on causes a cold boot freeze.

When you say power cable for your Dac is it a mains cable? If so it could possibly be your psu? It might be worth double checking all of your cables make sure they are all plugged in correctly.

updated to F2b last night and ocd my 4770k back to 4.6ghz without issue and all seems to be running ok this morning having left it mining all night again :) Fingers crossed on the audio disappearing issues i have been plagued with.

Hi, yeah mains connected dac. I turned off the dac, and left just my amp running with the headphones plugged in, no noise, turned the dab back on, crackling, whilst the crackling was still apparent I switched off the pc, noise had disappeared.

This would make sense if the dac/amp were connected to the pc, but they weren't - I pulled them out.

As mentioned above, the noise was brought on my playing bf4, which has stressed my system.

I must mention the crackling died down after about 5 minutes - once I powered down and reset, back into windows at idle.

I'm Still having cold boot issues. I can replicate it perfectly at any time now. Turn pc off, unplug, wait 20 seconds, plug back in, turn on, windows logo freezes, press reset button a couple of times, all is dandy, until I turn my pc off again.

I've been running memtest for the last 6 hours, no issues as of yet.

Once the os has booted up I can run occt linpackx with avx on for at least two hours and all is ok.

Perhaps it is a power supply issue, surely the the computer shouldn't be linked to the amp/dac via the power wires?

Would say that windows boot up error is probably a corrupt windows file or possibly driver related?

Can you replicate it and instead of going into windows normal, try going into safemode, if it will boot straight into safemode when it would normally freeze up, then you gotta say its software related. If it freezes up trying to load safemode theres a good chance you will see what it freezes trying to load.

Good idea, will try that. Thanks.

If I am reading it correct then, with the computer turned off and your DAC disconnected you dont get a noise, but when you turn it on your do although it still isn't connected?
If so then it could be your PSU putting noise on the mains, which isn't that likely tbh, but with electronics anything is possible.
Which bios are you running and do you have anything OC'd? Did you load defaults after you flashed, or when you installed it?

Yes you're reading right. :)

I was overclocking but reset the bios to default last night, still freezes up. I haven't replicated the crackling sound through my headphones yet since I haven't fired up bf4 since it happened. I'm using the latest bios, as posted above. It isn't just at the windows logo where it crashes, it's also froze in the bios. It seems like it takes two attempts the boot up the machine from cold, but once I'm in , there doesn't seem to be any issues, other than the crackling which I heard for the first time yesterday.

I have recently disconnected all wires, drives, removed my x-fi soundcard, changed the location of the ram (slots 1 and 3, instead of 2 and 4) with only the motherboard, ram, cpu, psu and harddrives connected. To no avail.

Memtest86 completed successfully, stock settings, 6 hours.

I'm in the process of reinstalling windows right now, and see how that goes, but tbh I don't think it will make any difference since seeing lock ups in the bios.

Good luck to me, lol.
