GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD9 MOTHERBOARD AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER (ARRIVING NEXT WEEK)

slightly different, it wont be out of date in 6 months.

True but if you want the best then you pay for it. Has always been the same and always will be.

You can never wait for the next bit of hardware to come out at the end of the day. If everyone said "I'm not buying a GTX 480 as the 580 will be out in a year" then nobody would ever actually buy anything.

I'd assume it's the other way round for Gigabyte on this one ;)

They're making no more than Asus would on the R3E for example. They'll be making profit but you need to factor in all the silly costs they have to pay Nvidia.

lol if you had enough cash to buy a bugatti im sure you would. Despite the low population of them.

Exactly the point. If you had millions and millions in the bank, I know I'd be having one of these with 4x GTX 480 in SLI.:D

It's an enthusiasts board designed for those who really want to take advantage of the very best hardware available. Last time I looked OcUK provided and prided itself on bringing the community the very best in hardware available be it mainstream or the very top of the range. If you don't want the board or it's out of your budget then fine. But don't have a go at OcUK for sourcing the best thats out there; be it mainstream or top of the range.

my thoughts exactly

its nice to see manufacturers push boundaries. if they didnt bother we would all be 'making do'.

why do people act surprised when ultra high end hardware is expensive?

Talk about overkill on a Mobo. Best of luck to whoever purchase it. You would want £2000+ to complete the build.

we could all just dream about the lottery win (well at least for me it would be a dream....)

Shippings a snip at that price unless of course you get free shipping :P

lol, it does say:

Expasion Slots: 7x PCIe 2.0 x16 Slots (Supports 2-Way / 3-Way / 4-Way ATI CrossFireX & NVIDIA SLI Technology)

+ Veyrons are crap. Aren't even as good as a Caterham in the bends.

A lot of silly arguments here. The best never makes financial sense but neither does climbing Everest but people still want to and do it. If you can't afford it just sit back and admire it, why knock it just because you can't have it or don't understand why others want it....

Btw +1 for the Caterham and I can't afford one of those either!

100% True.

Yep! Also have to agree. Way too many haters clogging up these forums. Some people seem to forget that this is an enthusiast's site.

Quite so. Good luck to all those that can afford and wan't to buy as it is everybodys own choice, but I don't begrudge anybody else the opportunity to have such great hardware.

ran quad sli yesterday on this

i used this power supply

had no issues with power at all

the cards even ran furmark for ten minutes

the quad sli would not complete a full run of 3dmark vantage due to drivers failling

edit*
the 980X was at 4.6GHz and the cards were all overclocked but 10% minimum

Well if you look at the consumption on G3D, 1200W wasn't almost achieved with no overclocking at LOAD, so for OCing which is kinda what the board is made for will really require more. You can run in the PSUs Peak range but I would rather just be safe if you are buying that much stuff anyway...

Also thinking about it, that motherboard won't fit in that case anyway, will it? XL-ATX and all. Only a few cases it will fit in, and I already have one of them (PC-P80). Wonder if there are any cases with 10 slots and 2 PSU holders? And then room to put water cooling equipment since it's the only way I'd use 4SLI. So probably looking at Mountain Mods ONLY then? LOL Another £500+ gone then.
