**Gigabyte Super OC GTX 480's - VERY LOW PRICES!**

OC Guru is now stating that my GPU voltage, Memory voltage and GPU current are all 0.00 V/A

EDIT: It's stable if I drop down to default gtx 480 clocks ... not really why I paid extra for this card though =[

OCCT4 i got loads of errors 35 i seem to recall after 4 mins,Not as many by no meens than the occt 3 got but still proves my card is not up to the job

EDIT I just upped my volts from stock 1025 to 1050 on the soc and what do you know OCCT4 stable for 10 mins NO ERRORS so it looks as if the vs on this need a bit of a boost so i might just keep it, save all my postage money and not have to be withought the card for umpteen weeks

thats not too bad then I wouldn't have worried about sending it back if it just needed a tiny voltage bump.

Has OC guru ever worked for you? On my system it would not show the power phase or voltage reading at all.

I also found the SOC I returned under RMA to be stable at Nvidia reference GTX 480 clocks (15 minute OCCT test with error detect on) but not at the factory overclocked settings.

on a positiv enote - any of you notice an improvement in general IQ ?

I'm sure the overall IQ - and I mean the sharpness, colours etc of the image especially in games - not the frame rates, graphics quality etc seems better with this card than either my previous 570 or 490

It works at normal gtx 480 speed of 700MHz all the way up to 750MHz. The
super overclock claims 820MHz ... which seems to be wishful thinking. The
voltage readouts did work for a while until I updated the drivers.

Were the drivers it worked with those on the supplied disc?

I went straight to the latest drivers on the Nvidia website, which may explain it not working for me. Seems like a bit of an oversight if it only works with one driver version though...

Does OC guru work completely for anyone with the latest Nvidia drivers?

It was with the ones supplied on the disc, I cannot remember the version though.

OC Guru did not work for me so i just used AB
i have 2 gtx's one SOC one standard with a arctic cooler fitted and i have both stable at 820 on there own, one with 1100v's (standard that i OC to 820 etc) and the SOC is at 1050v's BUT !!!! when i SLI them i get errors again in OCCT 4

I played crysis and no problems at all though the temps on both cards hit 80c and 85c i will do a heaven bench test again to check for errors

By the way does anyone know how to get the crysis 2 benchmark to work ? I downloaded Openautomate as i was getting the error due to that but have NO IDEAR how to get it to work.... No worries if no one can help i just wanted to see what it was like.

My gfx card has been fine for a couple of days, yesterday i updated the drivers & finally had a chance to run OCCT. after 16 mins of the hour test i was into the 20,000 errors and white flashes were appearing on the screen. Am i going to need to RMA or is this normal?

furmark also shows artifacts.

RMA the card its faulty. if it can not pass 15 mis of furmark gpu test then the card is faulty.

^^ I'm not convinced one way or another whether OCCT is a valid test ?

I mean if it was - and you removed the power limiters with GPU-Z for the 570s and 580s - would they all last 15 minutes without errors ? or would some give errors ?

ran furmark again for 20 mins and no artifacting. What settings should be used on occt? it starts artifacting straightaway.

I would say that they would pass. It is a valid test if i lower the clocks on Gtx 480 from 820 to 760 they pass the occt gpu test.

Exactly what I think, too many people on here are trying to fry their cards using software that could potentially shorten the lifespan of their cards.

I perhaps could be swayed that OCCT was more relevant software if it was kept up to date, but the thing is most people seem to be using version 3.1.0 which was released over two years ago, that's before the 480 was even released!

If it's not stable playing the latest graphically demanding games then fair enough get it RMA'd, but people really need to stop trying to kill their brand new cards with out of date punishing software.

The fact of the matter is the majority of these cards that are deemed "faulty" by OCCT will probably run all the latest games at the clocks that Gigabyte have set with no problems whatsoever.

Rant over :p

When I get mine I'll simply bench a few games first before I get stuck in to a title. I rarely bother at all with things like furmark, though I might give it a run on Heaven, but that'll be about it.

mmm - no matter what I've tried- I've been experimenting lots !! lol

can't get 780 or above stable - no matter what the volts, fine in games, but not so in OCCt - I could get up to about 280 seconds or so - but then some errors

tried back to stock volts, but at 740/930 mem (so slight extra oc for the RAM) - and 600 seconds no errors, and temps not above 89

I think theres something more to the eye going on here - and I'm still leaning towards my PSU now - as at the higher volts I tried 790 etc should have been stable on any garden GTX480 - but not this one - so perhaps my volts are dropping on my PSU under load

thing is now though 740 core - is it really worth £110 for a new PSU - just to allow for an extra 80 on the core ... prob not

Buckster Can you not go to like PC world (spit cough weeeze) and get one try it and then take it back if it works and that it proves the PSU was the problem, They are very good with returns.
Just say it did not fit in your midi tower lol (looking very dumb at the time remembering THEY DONT KNOW YOU lol) They will say "ow ok " and you then get the full refund (i have done this with them on ram when needed then bought online and then returned the ram etc)

At least that way you can tell if it IS the psu then you can get a GOOD one on OCuk

Just a thought !!

possibly therutz - but I like to play by the rules a bit too much - so not sure about buying and taking back etc

one thing I found tonight though inside my PC is a dedicated VGA (yes VGA) 12V molex with a chunky single connector to it

at the moment for one of the PCI-E power inputs, I'm using a 2x Molex to 6 pin PCI-E power adapter, both molexes come off same cabling from PSU as only have 1 string of 3 Molexs on my PSU (all the rest are SATA)

so can I use only one of these Molex's and for the other Molex use this VGA 4 pin Molex ?

I think what you'll find with OCCT also is that if you use their standard test without checking the Error Checking option the benchmark runs ok, Error check and quickly they start to develop.

FurMark, Unigine, Games for god sake are probably much more efficient and accurate tests which in the majority of cases will not artifact. In any case where the benchmarks I include there show artifacts I'm sure people will find them in their games which makes sense for an RMA.

Done a quick check on OCCT and after 3 mins it gives me Errors everywhere yet with any other benchmark and the latest games everything is stable as. So I really don't feel as if my card is faulty but I'm sure a lot as you mention would.

Slight rant but not as ranty over :p
