Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master Owners

Does that mean if i have 3 M2 drive in the Master MB i am throtleing them or worse still throtleing my 3080?
You lose 8 PCIe 4 lanes on the GPU slot it goes from x16 to x8. What that means in reality on a 3080 is likely to be very small (and call me pedantic here if you wish) I don't want that compromise on a high end board especially when you can spend less and get an even more capable X570. All you're then left with is a very strong VRM solution on the master which is frankly over engineered. No idea why Gigabyte went down this path it sure as heck wasn't for technical reasons I wager

Forgive my further RFI here but can I unpack what you said a little more. I am not exactly looking for cutting edge but hoped to purchase strong componentes that I would not wish to inadvertantly dilute capability from by making poor setup decisions.

One M2 drive = X16 from top PCI slot for GPU
Two or three M2drives = X8 from top PCI slot for GPU

Please confirm i have this correct

Almost you missed off the PCI versions
X8 PCIe 4.0 (which is essentially X16 PCIe 3.0 in terms of bandwidth)

Hmmmm. So I need to go one M2 drive and partition that for OS and games on separate areas of the same drive so I don’t need to redo load them. Not sure how much of a difference it is making but having x8 Gen4 feels like a sizeable trade off. Or am I being overly sensitive due to my ignorance?

X8 gen4 is the same as x16 gen 3 so plenty of bandwidth. I think the real point is outside of HEDT you won't get anything faster.

It has a small effect atm, but the point is really on a motherboard that is top end B550 you shouldn't have to compromise on your GPU slot

Ok so checked what’s been stated in here via GPUZ. With two M.2 drives fitted I am still getting X16 Gen 4 from my PCI slot my GPU is in. It isn’t being reduced as suggested.

Looking at upgrading in the next few months from my 7700k/ROG Z270F with possibly a 5900x and x570 MB. The x570 Master seems to stick out to me for price, performance and features compared to my usual choice of Asus boards. My only concern is the dreaded RGB compatibility between the board and Corsair Vengeance memory. I've heard the boards software tends to take control over iCue? Is that still correct or have updates made this a non-existant issue?

No mention of it either in the manual...just 2 sata ports lost it says.

Top pcie x16 drops to x8 if anything is in the 2nd pcie slot....even a x1 soundcard will cause it to drop.

I’m going to be getting this board shortly but just want to know what the fan is like on the chipset. I’m fully water cooled so my PC is very quiet even under load so I don’t want a noisy chipset fan. My understanding is you can set the fan to not come on (I know it spins on startup) and will only come on gently at a certain temp under load?

I've got the elite can't hear fan at all mate so would think it's the same with the master

I have received this board too and have question about replacing thermal paste on chipset to make it cooler does it void warranty? Asking as i have read that some people are getting about 10 degree drops.

Hi all, I am looking for some help... I just got this board but don’t have a CPU or RAM yet but want to make sure the board is ‘OK’ as can be. I have connected a PSU to it and successfully used QFlash plus and updated the BIOS. But, if I use the power button on the board, nothing happens, at all. Surely the board should power on, LEDs etc and error codes? But literally nothing happens... normal? Maybe power button dead? Sorry if noob question, I’ve been out of the game for a long time!

Think I answered my own question testing my old board. Without a CPU installed it is literally dead, apart from the LED being present (same as Auros). Good that you can update BIOS in a ‘dead’ state though.

Not sure if I will go 5900x or 5950x. Paired with the 3080 GPU and 3800Mhz (OC) RAM the 5900 should be fine for playing Solitaire on.

I’m currently using on my X99 setup some G Skill Trident Z 3200Mhz C14 which consist of 4x8 gig modules and I know are the sammy B-die chips and apparently do clock well up to 4000Mhz with loosening the timings (not that I’ve tried that on my X99!) and plan to use them with this motherboard.

So basically I just want to know that I should be good for clocking my ram up to 3600MHz at least with 4 sticks?

I will be getting a 5950X so I presume memory controllers should be good on them.
