Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming 7 Owners Thread.

Tbh, they had loads of BETA releases. They use the naming sheme.. F8A,B,C,D,E,F. AFAIK, this was the next one after Q. Could still be some small fixes contained in it that they don't disclose.

Betas have the letters, then the "official" one with all the tweaks of that "group" gets just called F8, F7 etc.

So F8a,b,c,d,e,f,etc all goes to make up F8

Then if theres a F9a,b,c,d etc they will have more fixes and there should be a F9 after

then rinse+repeat.

OK I will backup and flash just incase some goodies in there as I still don't get the lighting fast boot times with my m.2 PCI drive as what others get with Asus and MSI mobos

I hope that gets addressed. Still looking at around 18 seconds from cold boot.

Are all of the fan headers on the board PWM or is it just the CPU header? I'm getting conflicting information and it's causing me a bit of a nightmare when it comes to trying to run 12 PWM fans. They're all currently running at full tilt with no fan control either in the bios or from Windows apps :(

Yeah they are all PWM.

Do you have the fan connectors on properly and not "one pin of" so they are only acting like a 3pin fan header.

And you are using the calibrate fan setting in SIV - https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=29519466&postcount=5

I'm actually using these PWM cables which as far as I know should act like a PWM hub.........except they don't :p All of the fans power up and full blast and I have no control whatsoever. One of the reviews on the product page complains about the same issue interestingly.

Two conflicting views. Haszek you think it's just the CPU header which is PWM and Stulid you think it's all of them? Has anybody been able to find any definitive answer on this anywhere?

The cpu header pins and sys fan pins are labelled differently too but the bios manual sys fan control suggest they are pwm.

Reading this thread and thinking about this mobo, however it seems to be a load of talk of bugs and firmware updates! Is this mobo that bad or is it just because you're all doing loads of tweaking (which I wont be doing)!

I had some sound issues in the past but they have been resolved, pretty solid board.

This board is solid and quite stable right now, so I don't think you would have any problems (but the same would be with boards from Asus, Asrock etc). It's only to your preference, what you need specs/looks wise.
