Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming 7 Owners Thread.

Yeah I tried all sorts with upping voltage and bits but no joy. Glad it's fixed as was bugging me. Just wanna get my boot times down to sub 10 seconds. It's possible just working out what the issue is

finally i can enable XMP !

i flashed a beta Bios (no change logs) but i can now run my memory at 3200 :)

Bios is F8Q

I bought recently Corsair LED 3466 CL16, however the highest I can run them is 3000:/

XMP not starting at all, 3200 same. No luck with voltages as well. It's weird as my previous gskill were running at 3200 (with higher cpu voltages).

Tried latest bios and it didn't change anything:/

And your using the red slots? ive read that they tend to be better (on all Z170 boards the pair furthest away from the cpu not just this G7 board)

I've got 4x8gb this time.

I saw you managed to run 3400 dominators... I wonder if anybody actually achieved more.

Or is there some kind of special trick for 4 sticks?

Sorted :)

After installation I went to bios to load default settings. But I read that if you change memory the best way is to reset CMOS to train the memory.

After reset computer is starting with no problems at 3466 even with low voltages io and sa at 1.15v

Nice work mate. Good thinking.

I notice you have the same case as me. Do you run all your fans into the hub that comes with the case ?

I took it out:) I wish it was proper PWM hub but it's not (it controls fans using voltage). I'm using currently phobya 8 way pwm splitter as all my fans currently are pwm. Connected the splitter to CPU header and control it through SIV. Just wish giga would give us option to use GPU temp rather than CPU (with skylake's spikes it's very often speeding up and down:/ ).

Useful info thanks. And did you keep the default fans in the case or replace?

Default fans are ok (at low speed around 600rpm very quiet), however they get loud in my opinion once they get closer to range 800-900. For air cooling quite good for case airflow.

Currently I'm using Corsair ML (for the looks and performance) and these are great. Silent, great airflow through radiator and I like their style:)

Anniversary update caused me some issues with link software guys. Just a heads up if you are using it with this mobo.

Unsure if it's the link software or windows just ballsing up

I reformed over the weekend and left off the corsair software. The anniversary update ballsed something up.

Did a clean install with the anniversary update included and no issues

Another thing that can send the Vcore over the set value is the Load Line Calibration, I remember that the max setting does send it over.

Did you set Vcore to 1.3 or Auto or Normal?
