Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming 7 Owners Thread.

Ok sorted the USB issue, it would seem when updating to the latest bios the thunderbolt firmware needs to be updated.

So install thunderbolt driver. (MUST BE DONE FIRST)

Install and run firmware update utility.

When the update is finished shut down the pc and remove the power cable for at least 40 seconds. (This is how long it took for the power button light on my motherboard to turn off)

Plug power back in.

Then restart pc.

USB issue resolved. :)

Hi Guys, one thing I have not done is really overclock the 6700k on this motherboard other than setting to 44 in the bios and getting 4.4ghz on the CPU. I would like to go to 45 or even 46 but I do not know what the best vcor setting would be.. Does anyone have any settings that I can try? Please note that I am pretty much a Noob at Overclocking...

Thanks TC, updated my TB firmware. Device Manager clean again :)

No worries pal.

Did your updates sort this issue? as I occasionally get the black screen on mine.

Only time will tell as it has only been a couple of days and the black screen on boot was very random with no pattern. On a positive, my system event viewer has been clear though the last couple of days with no warnings or errors. :)

C0 code on my mobo it is related to thunderbolt. Disabling thunderbolt into bios (F21) the code become A0. C0 meaning may be "no thunderbolt" device attached. Anyway I don't have a device to try.
Gigabyte technicians told me that codes after windows post have no meaning.

Apologies - I never did come back on this.

I'm still having stability issues, of course the PC primarily fails when using Prime, so I almost forgot about the issue until now again after some random crashes I've been having.

Sorry but I can't read this thread for a while.
Please avoid to use any Prime 95 versione above v26.6. More recent versions use AVX commands that can raise a lot temps on recent CPU. Try to use benchs like Realbench to test stability.

I have this motherboard and I'm planning to use both of the M.2 slots.

Samsung Evo 960 NVME in one and a Crucial MX300 525GB M.2 in the other.

Does this have any negative impact on speeds for either card or GFX card? Does this disable some of the onboard SATA ports?

I remember seeing a chart somewhere, but can't quite remember.

It's in the manual but both M.2 devices will run at full speed as will your primary graphics card. They usually disable SATA ports or slow down one of the extra PCIe ports to support full speed M.2 on both slots.
