Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming 7 Owners Thread.

Setting LLC to high will send Vcore higher than you think you've set.

For example if I set Vcore to 1.35V and LLC to high, CPU-Z reckons its 1.39V under load.
 
So I am thinking of going down the Skylake route for a much overdue PC at home (Currently running a 1090T).

I have in my sights the OCUK 6700K/Gigabyte Gaming 7 Mboard combo at the discounted price of £446.

I currently have a Asus Essence ST audio card. Can I assume the mboard sound will be good enough to sell this on?
 
I would expect the sound card to still be superior.

But the Creative onboard sound of this board may just satisfy you.

Thanks, it's not a deal breaker just would help to convince me to splash out!

Has there been any updated on the BIOS UI? Every review seems to complain about it!
 
A certain retailer that rhymes with Flan is reporting this as 'End of Life/Discontinued' - is that an issue, is there a newer model out there I should be looking at?

There was an EU model that was Z170X-Gaming 7 EU, it had a different box design. The stock of the EU has now run out so now there is just the Z170X-Gaming 7. Same exact board just the box design is different… Could be that which Flan picked up on maybe but the board is live and will sell for ages yet….

Got it today! Absolutely loving it!

The sound is pretty good...so the Essence STX is on sale now!

Will try some OCing tonight on the 6700K see where we get to.

I actually quite like the minimalistic BIOS!
 
Quick question guys...I am using a RAID 0 setup so when I fire the machine up it comes to the Intel RAID BIOS utility, then I get the full screen Gigabyte logo (press Del to enter etc) but then I get a flashing cursor. The cursor lasts for about 10 seconds before Win 10 loads? Its as if its waiting for something to load/be detected. Is this normal? My MSI would go straight from BIOS screen to Windos logo.
 
Check the boot order etc and set it to only what has windows on.

Any other boot devices in the options maybe try disabling them so it only goes to the boot drive 1st.

Worked a treat! Disabled all boot devices except the RAID hard drives! :)
 
The Killer one comes with software that you can use to set different priorities to games and apps and stuff, so you could set your torrents to low priority while you have you game to max priority, and a Twitch stream or something to medium and it should in theory prioritise in that order so that the game and video work fine if you have the bandwidth for both even if you haven't set a limit on your torrent.

No idea how well it works in practice though.

I have my internet using the Killer one atm, just because that's the one that I happened to plug it into rather than thinking it's better though :p.
