Not sure why so much prise for Dell, I don't think they are any better.
My Dell U2713HM I bought in 2013 arrived with many dead pixels in the middle of the screen and bad back light bleed, immediately RMA'd and replaced. The replacement had some backlight bleed in the bottom left but was light so I kept it. 35 months into the 36 month warranty I started getting strange ghosting issues across the screen. 4 RMA's later (all refurbished due to age) and their inability to supply a screen without horrendous back light bleed or dead pixels we had an argument and I ended up with a U2717D.
They still haven't actually collected one of the screens (this was over a year ago) even after multiple calls telling them to collect it. So I have a U2713HM with a few dead pixels in the loft collecting dust.
On the other hand I have a NEC 20WGX2 still going all the way back from 2006 with no back light bleed, used daily to this day. It did develop a dead pixel after 9 years mind. while this screen was expensive for it's day (over £300) its been a very good screen.
I swear all of these back light issues are down to how thin they are making the panels. No one cares how thin it is!!!
