If its a well run company/team you would hope there is a collective responsibility

coroporate collective responsbility went out the window in the 90's. It's dog eat dog and someone will use this as leverage to get further up the corporate ladder no doubt. The coder who built the release is probably sweating blood or more likely holding his P45. The IT QA/compliance group should also take some flak this as they clearly didn't properly dry run the IQ/OQ before rolling it out to production

Just imagine being the programmer who wrote this update and waking up the next day to all this.......
Pushed it out just before they headed out on holiday; no doubt they're already on the beach, phone off, sipping mai tais and none the wiser

I take it the update was only pushed down to servers? We actually disable booting into safe mode on the client desktops / laptops. We also use a pxe image to build / restore client systems.
Seems to be all Falcon users and has affected end systems as well.

I have no clue how any of this works or how this managed to stop so many seemingly completely different industries at the same time.

CrowdStrike fired out a statement - https://www.crowdstrike.com/blog/statement-on-windows-sensor-update/

CrowdStrike is actively working with customers impacted by a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts. Mac and Linux hosts are not impacted. This is not a security incident or cyberattack.

The issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed. We refer customers to the support portal for the latest updates and will continue to provide complete and continuous updates on our website.

We further recommend organizations ensure they’re communicating with CrowdStrike representatives through official channels.

Our team is fully mobilized to ensure the security and stability of CrowdStrike customers.

Also it seems some end users are finding success through constantly rebooting their systems and hoping the network stays up long enough for the CrowdStrike agent to download the new update. It's possible this may get sorted a little quicker if that's the case.

Would not have had a clue if it was not for the news. Everything at work is fine.
Might explain why the value of my Stocks & Shares ISA took a large hit this morning.
