That was a genuine LOL :D :D :D

Anyways..... Not sure about this one Penski. I do actually like a lot of the cars you post, and I always 'get' them, but this one looks just a bit too ready for the scrap heap. I don't know, it just doesn't work for me.

Also, it looks like a 3D render to me

EDIT: Great website though, with some really nice photography

what on earth is the attraction in something that hasnt been looked after, looks old and decrepit, attractive ?

Mate, what are you on about? Where's this metal decay - all I can see is surface rust on account of the paint having been stripped off it by the sun over the years. It's probably spent most of it's life in Arizona. 'Rotting from the inside out' - again, where? No holes that I can see from that shot. I suspect that it's been treated to prevent decay on the chassis, all the rubbers will have been either maintained or replaced. As for "neglected"....knowing the owners of cars like that, I doubt very much that it's neglected in any way.
Blah blah blah. It looks like its on its way to the scrappy, whether its surface rust, underbody rust or whatever. Anyway, surface rust is the beginning of all of that anyway...

They obviously care for it so much that they can't even be bothered to give it a coat of paint.. or are you seriously suggesting that every car in Arizona ends up like that regardless of how well its been looked after?

Leaving a car sat out in the sun for an eternity doesn't strike me as "caring" about it to be honest.

I like it very much.

The pin striping above the lights is such a nice touch and I didn't even notice the flames until you pointed them out.
There's just something really pleasing about those cars, almost like an "I don't give a **** what you think of my car, it's big, it's bad and it's downright ugly, but in the same way as a pitbull is, but you wouldn't **** off a pitbull would you ;)"

Dude, get a clue.. the owner WANTS the rust.

Thanks to HoodRide, my new desktop at work is this.

Check the stance...The wheels...The tyres...The bumpers...The pinstriping over the lights...the spats on the rear arches...

...Then check out the flames.

Awesome.

Just awesome.

You know, the more threads like this you post the more I think you're just taking the ****

Penski, Do you know how they do the detailing? Is it airbrushing over a stencil?

Looks great and wouldn't mind giving it a go on my BMX bike paintwork.

Cool, but what do they use to stop the rust from just eating it alive?

Yet again the same boring comments from the its not shiny = it must be a dangerous shed brigade. I had the same with my mini, looked tatty as hell but mechanicaly and structuraly it was sound.

What, it's looks like it's on the way to being crushed ito a cube because of surface rust?! My God, I know we seem to be in a throwaway society these days but that really is ridiculous.

Besides which - my Oldsmobile has holes in the bodywork, yet still passes MOTs. Why? Because the bodywork isn't structural, it has a seperate bloody chassis and that is completely sound!

Same deal with this example - there will be absolutely no rot in anything structural.

The amount of cars that come out of Arizona with the paint completely stripped off by the sun suggest that yes, you leave a car there long enough without repainting it and that'll happen. This car was built in the '50s - if it spent a good portion of that in the hot and dry climate that I think it did then there wouldn't be a whole lot of the original paint left.

You're right. How dare people park cars in Arizona?

Just think about this for a moment Princess - the current owner might not have owned the car for it's entire life. You suppose that maybe, just maybe, it was found with the body in that condition? And that maybe, just maybe, he liked it like that and kept it that way? Why should he paint it if it isn't rotting? Sure, he could sand it down tomorrow and give it 14 coats of paint and clearcoat....but what would be the point if he likes it looking the way it does?
