Blah blah blah. It looks like its on its way to the scrappy, whether its surface rust, underbody rust or whatever. Anyway, surface rust is the beginning of all of that anyway...
What, it's looks like it's on the way to being crushed ito a cube because of
surface rust?! My God, I know we seem to be in a throwaway society these days but that really is ridiculous.
Besides which - my Oldsmobile has
holes in the bodywork, yet still passes MOTs. Why?
Because the bodywork isn't structural, it has a seperate bloody chassis and that is completely sound!
Same deal with this example - there will be absolutely no rot in anything structural.

They obviously care for it so much that they can't even be bothered to give it a coat of paint.. or are you seriously suggesting that every car in Arizona ends up like that regardless of how well its been looked after?
The amount of cars that come out of Arizona with the paint completely stripped off by the sun suggest that yes, you leave a car there long enough without repainting it and that'll happen. This car was built in the '50s - if it spent a good portion of that in the hot and dry climate that I think it did then there wouldn't be a whole lot of the original paint left.

Leaving a car sat out in the sun for an eternity doesn't strike me as "caring" about it to be honest.
You're right. How dare people park cars in Arizona?
Just think about this for a moment Princess - the current owner might not have owned the car for it's entire life. You suppose that maybe, just maybe, it was found with the body in that condition? And that maybe, just maybe, he
liked it like that and kept it that way? Why should he paint it if it isn't rotting? Sure, he could sand it down tomorrow and give it 14 coats of paint and clearcoat....but what would be the point if he likes it looking the way it does?
