Godzilla vs. Kong

Knew it would be absolute crap so didn't mind napping through it.
The fighting i saw was "good" but id personally watch the 70s ones with guys dressed in suits.

If id have paid in a cinema for this i would have given it a 4/10

Still smashing it at the box office despite limited showings.

I'm sure it's providing the Cinema industry with a little ray of hope that movie fans still want that big screen experience and heading to the local cinema is not dead.

I for one can't wait to get into my local cinema.

Not impressed. Godzilla looks like he has been shrunk down to kong size.
Was really hoping he was son of godzilla and gets beat by kong then real godzilla that appears like the one in the animated films who is over 300m tall.

Even as a fan of the old and new entries I found this one tedious at times. The human interplay is beyond excruciating to watch which is relaly saying something if you've seen some of the campier entries made by the East. All that money you think they'd throw together a decent screenplay in that regard. last 20 minutes was excellent, though I agree with others that Godzilla appears to have been shrunk down a bit for convenience. All the issues that the Garth Edwards entry had, he really managed to communicate the sheer size and terrifying spectacle of Godzilla. It's a great shame that the movies following the 2014 remake made no effort to refine or develop it's tone. Would have been interesting to see a grittier take on the material from the West, even if Shin Godzilla won't ever really be bested in that regard.
I think overall I preferred King of the Monsters. It played up the camp really nicely and wher ei know some people found the fight scenes a little annoying to watch, I much preferred the spectacle of them. Ghidora is my favourite Kaiju within the universe and I think they wheeled him out a little early, same with Mothra and Rodan. I think there'd have been more dramatic weight to these movies if it was all building up to a team v team sort of thing. There's very little connective tissue between these movies and that's really to their detriment.

I never gave any credence to the idea that this was the industries death blow. It's an activity that's built into the fabric of Western society at this point. Going to the flicks has and always will be an event for most people, even if it's just a few times a year.

I think for most folks there's more of a general concern that the cinemas themselves would have/might be closed down permanently by the time we're allowed to visit them normally post-COVID as I don't see lockdown really changing too many viewing habits in the log term.

I'm sure lots in the industry were worried at the big studios using covid as an excuse to cut them out of the chain and go direct to customer via streaming platforms. Think I can remember a few arguments between them spilling out into the press. I'm not sure how successful the latest releases have faired.

I believe Godzilla vs Kong has performed that strongly that Dune could be Cinema only for a period with HBO getting pushed to a date.

Can someone spoil the film for me please. I want to watch it with my kids but theyll be upset if the monsters die...please let me know if they do (Spoiler tags obvs)

Thank you.

There's a throw away giant snake monster that gets killed by Kong, but both of the main guys live.

For free its worth a watch. Peed off though that they shrunk down godzilla to kongs size.

They did say Kong still had some growing up to do in Skull island, but yes Godzilla did get a wee bit of a shrink. Or maybe that was Godzuki?

i was hoping it was godzillas son and then in the end real godzilla would appear and gong would be about knee height, but alas they flopped hard.
