I hate this game! :D

Played Sunday, wasn't hitting the ball too badly, but was at a new course so couldn't get the green speeds. Blobbed the first 3 holes without playing them too badly. Then hit a nice streak for the next 9 of par, par, birdie, par, par, par, birdie, birdie, par. Was flying. Then the wheels came off big style and blobbed the rest. Mind you, playing off an official 18 (shows how things change in club medal golf rather than social rounds with mates, as my golfshake hcp is still 14), 30 points from only 9 holes of scoring isn't too bad I suppose, at least I know the game is in there somewhere!

Anyone got any good resources for pitching? It is literally letting my whole game down, I have this psychological block where I know I'm going to **** it up.

Instead of a nice fluid chip, a sort of chop/stab at it and rarely get it off the ground nicely.

Don't have this problem with irons! Frustrating!

best advice I ever heard for pitching was

" let the club do the work"

To many people try and "lift" the ball with the club, rather than just swing thru the ball with a nice steady tempo

What about the Golf Monthly, "short game tips" app? Plenty of advice on that.

Does anyone use a smartphone app such as Golfshot whilst they are out on the course?

And if you do, would you happen to know if Golfshot (or any similar apps) work without a constant data connection? I'm sort of hoping I could download the course details before I headed out, rely on GPS to get me round and then upload all the data when I'm back on WiFi.

Basically I've got a choice - buy the Android version, for which my usual phone would work, or pick up the iOS version which gives me a choice of iPhone 4S or iPad mini, neither of which I have a Micro SIM for!

On Thursday decided to buy my new Irons, decided on the TaylorMade RBZ 4-AW on offer at American Golf for £349 will post pics and a little review in the next week or so. Just need to get 2 more clubs, debating on getting a 5 hybrid 20 degrees or something and a 60 degree TaylorMade RAC to go with my 56 I brought last month.

I use golfshot for my scoring and Skydroid for GPS, skydroid is rather cheap and does exactly the same... With skydroid you can download the courses you want stored on the phone and then rely on GPS on the course.

I've had problems with golfshot getting on the course then having to re-download as they cannot find it, odd really!!

Shot 10 under my handicap yesterday!

I'm a +24 and shot +14 :D! Was +9 after 16 then got a triple, followed by a double.

All came together nicely yesterday

Opposite, i play off 24 and shot well above! Had a strange day, I didn't really feel like I played that many bad shots, just when I did it resulted in going into a hazard, bunker, out of bounds etc.

Dropped shots = Killer.
