Got fitted for a new putter yesterday and the new Odyssey Eleven is the winner! 36 inch shaft and a degree of loft taken off it.

Had my eye on the new Taylormade Spider GT but just never got on with it. New Ping ones look really nice as well!

That's one futuristic looking putter, I like it!

Went to the range today..I only hit P, 8 and 6 with 50 balls.

wasn’t too bad for my first time back, but my last ball with the 6 iron, WOW! Creamed it! Felt great off the face and travelled far and bullet straight.

quick q guys, how much yardage on average would you say you lose on the range balls compared to say, a pro V etc..?

The general rule is around 10-15%, I think. Could be wrong! :p

oh wow! Really, in that case, these Mizuno irons are monsters, granted I could not have hit the shot any better, hard to judge by the yardage markers, but it must carried a fair bit.

I do understand it’s not all about distance, but it’s nice when it does fly! :D

Its either 10-15 yards or % - I forget which!

But yeah, nothing feels better in golf when you absolutely smoke one!

Yellow Peril comp today. Of course I lost the yellow ball on the 7th. Team ended with 142 points still which wasn’t bad.

Had 39 points myself with 2 pickups and an 8 on the card. Managed a birdie on our SI 18 netting 5 points due to my handicap not coming down as quick as it probably should. Probably one of my best rounds and back out again tomorrow and then again Monday.

Some serious bandits in here...

27 points over 9 holes - That should get a handicap committee "special" reduction right there. In a nice way, that's a disgrace, basically 8 under your handicap for 9 holes....

Then 39 points with 2 no scores... Jesus wept...

You boys need slashed.....:p:p

Comments are meant in a nice way but like @Josh said - You'd get lynched at my place for those scores...

Net 73 today (84 gross) - First comp of the back tees, fairly windy - very average ball striking, trying to work grip changes and swing changes during the week in practice at the range, but it's not transitioning over to course yet

Got a wee lesson monday with my club pro, will also be paying the year subscription for an adult. Also the pro said if I sign up I will the practice range fee for the year for free! Win right there.

but before I get onto the course I just want to see where I’m going right, and also wrong. I can hit some right outrageous shots, and some howlers, just need consistency. But after four range practices since back..it could be worse I suppose.

Played again today and was cut overnight by 0.6. A decent round today. Not quite as good as yesterday. 38 points over 18 with 0 no scores. Placed 3rd in the todays comp. One of the guys in our group was on fire and hit 44 points after 39 yesterday. He was cut 1 overnight and expecting another 2 point drop tonight. Back to the course on Monday so will see if can continue the run.

Cut was another 1.4 overnight so cut by 2 in 2 days.

Anyone here used the "Kirkland Signature" balls? Thinking of getting some as I hear they are similar to PRO-V's but half the price?

Im not ready yet to play at a high standard, and losing PRO-V's is not gonna abode well with the wallet! :(

I usually use the kirkland and played a round with pro v1s and noticed very little difference. If anything I preferred the kirkland. I probably don't hit with enough club speed to unlock the extra distance the pro v1 has

I do agree with the comments about banditry but one of my very best golf buddies who I have played golf with for over twenty years and who plays off 7 (aged late 60s) last weekend shot 2 under gross to score 45 points. It can happen.

that’s great to know. Thank you. Might invest on that basis..

I know it's all in jest, but I'm really not a bandit.
I'm just glad to have scored my all time best score while in a comp, rather than when I'm on my own.
I play a lot on my own because I pop out on my lunch break and get a round in quickly before I get back to work, hard to organize 2 players playing as well as fitting it in over 90 mins.
Playing on my own a lot means I can't hand my cards in as no one is there to mark my scores.
The weekend comp is almost the only way I can get cards handed in really, so over the summer my score should come down a bit.
It's dropped from an index of 29.5 to 19.1 so far.

Still absolutely addicted to the sport. Love it.

It's coming down!

No chance I could have one of those around the house, kids would destroy it in less than 30s :p

Got my swing speed slowly creeping up.

102mph last month, 104mph max swing speed this month... and wasn't going full out, as i hurt my back last time, much better now. Hopefully look to raise this further over the next few months. Hoping to get to 110MPH by the end of the year. According to videos i've watched online, if you're upper limit goes up, it will translate to lifting your normal (default) swing speed up too, which will inevitably mean more distance.
