Golf Thread

Went back to see Paul at Mind Body Golf on Monday and we spoke about some mental stuff/pre shot routine etc. He's also given me some exercises for Pilates for my restricted hip range etc.
How has this been going? I ask as I had a free PT session at my gym today, offered to all members as recompense for our memberships going up this year - also a good way to drum up some new business for the PT's, where I got them to run through the TPI flexibility screening. My range of movement is probably a bit better than I give myself credit for but they did identify I have tight hip flexors and some restricted shoulder movement (a legacy of the frozen shoulder I had a couple of years back). Went away with some additional stretches and exercises to incorporate into my existing regime.

Crazy data and info on the 2025 ball testing - some really interesting reading

A few clubs in my area were sold for housing, one of which shut well over five years ago, which I played regularly and it was very popular. All three have had nothing built on them so far.

Interesting, I've just moved from Prov1s to Srixon Zstar Diamonds, they feature heavily as a very spinney ball. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

No golf again this weekend - Frozen course, temp greens....

Season starts in 2 weeks (March medal) and hardly been outside in the last 4 months.... Between rain, flooded or frozen - course hasn't been playable really.

Does my head watching golf from USA/Australia etc and they are in shirt sleeves in Jan/Feb etc.

All courses up here been closed for the weekend.

The worst part is that it's now just all frozen, so all the moisture is retained on the course, I was hoping we'd get some reprieve and the drainage would do it's work.

Got out today in nice sunshine but played absolutely dog doo doo. Waiting for my new driver to arrive, using an old Big Bertha and I hate callaway. Like a brick on a stick.

Need to invest in some new gear this year.

Our course atm makes us use fairway mats. I hate it, aside from feeling like it's cheating sometimes, occasionally I hit the bloody thing.

Frankly I'd rather pay a cheaper fee and ditch December to March.

Which driver have you got coming?

I'm playing the Ping G430 Max, best driver i've ever hit.

Went to the range this morning with the usual guys and the conversation was unsurprisingly about potential clubs to join

A few people have already.made their decision based on messages flying around and we are going to a club tomorrow to see if we can get a couples membership as my wife has played the course and enjoyed it, so it could be our new home if things are favourable

Has anyone here set up a home golf sim? I'm trying to figure out if there is enough room in a single garage.

I think ceiling height might be an issue.

I haven't, but ceiling height would be the main thing to consider

Possibly the width and depth depending on the sim you use as well

On another note, we have completed application forms for a new club this morning, so hopefully we will have a new place to play

For anyone who knows the north-east area - Wynyard is the club

Full swing arc, ceiling height and the depth from hitting mat to screen and also you need a certain distance behind depending on what hardware/launch monitor you'll be using.

It's a good club, played there many times last year! Decent little range there too and the clubhouse is superb. What club were you at previous?

Yeah, I have played first team matches there and a couple of charity days as well, so know the course and my wife can manage round there as well which was my main concern about any new club

Current club is Dinsdale, just outside Darlington that is closing at the end of March
