Golf Thread

So my local pro has no slots for a few weeks now so going to head to clubhouse golf in warrington on my week off and get a 2nd fit there, not because i have any issues with my one i had today but just to try the few brands they didn't stock. I use PXG irons so the new versions of them, mainly the XP varient instead of the P variant i have and Wilson irons that i want to try.
Booked a lesson tomorrow up at Carus green, just 30 mins just to figure out wtf i've done to screw my irons up despite playing 5 x 10 hole rounds of golf over the last week with 0 issues with my irons.

Missing out on the last chance to play at my home course tomorrow before it shuts on Tuesday due to my back, but it is the sensible thing to do

We have got a tee time booked for Good Friday at our new club, so that is what I want to aim for, followed by a pairs event at Close House on a couple weeks time

Hope you're healed for Close house, played there last week on the Colt. Course is looking fantastic, it's a hell of a challenge though. I shot 77 round there off the whites which I was happy with.

oh dear me...
Trump said it was an accident, not sure dui is really accidental...
Played a course I've not played in about 10 years so like a new course to me, its a links course and blooming windy compared to the links course I'm a member off.
Really nervous for the the start as this is the first round since the **** fitting experience and the lesson.
It was really enjoyable, I was driving well all round, iron shots were a bit lower than I would like but 0 shanks and only one thinned shot all round. Putting with my new putter was really good, seemed to get the long puts with within a feet so happy with distance control.
Amazing how golf can have experiences like the fitting which made me question why I bother to a good round of golf where I came out positive. Also me and my playing partner didn't loose a ball

Back tees, full greens, first day this year for no mats, course very soft and very windy, unsettled weather - didn't even bother signing in to the comp today! Overall very poor, with some quality moments, and also a sprinkling of "wtf"

Nearly got a hole in one with a chippy driver off the deck on one of the par 3s, super birdie as well on S.I. #2.

I think our course is going to be in the best condition it's been in for years if we avoid a drought in spring, they've been Draconian through the winter keeping buggies off the course (which a lot of folk will be moaning about no doubt) but yeah looking forward to the season and getting a few proper rounds in after Easter

Still front/push up tees but wild wind (20-30mph) at times - very wet still. Some hail as well.

79 gross, for 74 net - chipped in for birdie on the 10th (nice 2), hit the ball fairly well but course even off the fronts is playing sooo long - crazy long. Will need a good few weeks of drier weather....

Spotted a lovely gt2 7w in the pro shop second hand... Upgraded shaft and everything.... Turns out one of the boys I go to Spain on the golf with later in the year is selling it (he's minted and buys clubs like they are disposable...) - "Might" need to review it again.... Love the gt2 driver and 3 wood.

Out today, first time actually playing golf since the hernia scare and thankfully all was fine, even carried and it was no problem, kinda feeling it a bit now but nothing too bad so happy about that.

Bit of a meh/bad day though, firstly I decided it would be fun to try the old blade putter for the lols, 42 putts wasn't that much fun :p Overall hitting it ok though.

Worst bit though was I managed to break the shaft on my driver! Cause my leased car is going back tomorrow I've been cleaning it etc and rather than having one of the rear seats down I put the bag just in the boot, done it several times and it's fine I just need to take the long clubs out, so I did that, long clubs out and rested on top of the bag, didn't think too much about it. Heard something early on going around a corner but didn't see anything when I got there, put the long clubs back in the bag without noticing anything but when I went to grab the headcover of the driver on the first tee it came off with the head still inside, and a broken shaft still in the bag!

So yeah, now I need to go shop for a new driver shaft, probably just get the same again but might see what options there are/prices for the lols.

My new (well old!) car is an MX-5 where I'll need to take the driver out constantly though, so yeah, bit worrying now :p should be fine...

With all the clubs you've bought over the last few years surely you already have something you could swap in :p Sorry to hear that but at least it wasn't the head.

No competitive golf for me this weekend, greens are still like the beach. Just a casual knock this morning. Broke 90 which is objectively good for me. Hit it decent all round, just one little putt I missed which cost me shooting to my handicap.

I haven't bought that many clubs! At least I didn't think so :p

Got 4 drivers technically, my old Spalding with a bonded shaft, an el-cheapo 25 years old Cobra with a bonded shaft, my old Callaway Mavrik which my nephew has stolen and the Titleist GT3. So alas no

nipped out today for 10 holes. Second time since being a member i've had some random oldie moan at me. This time was because i didn't use the little wooden winter tee boxes, which as he claimed was obvious i should be using along with why am i not using a mat as the ground is wet. Really irritating sometimes, you get busy bodies more concerned about others than themselves. I politely pointed him to the fact the email got sent out this morning advising no more winter matts, no more winter tees to which he responded that hes been around the course twice today and no one has used the normal tee box (my thought is 'so maybe they haven't read the email'). Funny thing was is as i was getting to the end i noticed someone teeing off on the 1st normal tee box as they should be. Tends to be the older lot who want to moan, can only assume they';ve got nowt better to do.

They are the worst.

I had a couple of oldies making comments the fact that I was wearing a pair of joggies and hoodie on Monday.

We were at the driving range, not gearing up for Sunday at the ******* Masters...

But on the range note, first time I've swung a club in about 6 months - it felt almost autonomous and was striping everything with minimal back pain. Strangest part was my driver behaving - average of about 297 yards with the longest reaching 320!

Can't wait to get back on the course for it to all go to crap...

Should have told them "I'll do whatever you want if you can out drive me" :p

We have a tee time booked for Friday at our new course, and one of the other guys from our group that moved there is joining myself and my wife

This will be the first time swinging a club since my disc popped out a couple weeks ago so I am not expecting much

I actually feel okay in terms of pain, but the loss of feeling in my left foot still will be the thing I need to figure out how it will affect my swing

Swapped my clubs from my winter carry bag to my summer bag tonight ready for using the electric trolley

Fingers crossed it goes okay

Fingers crossed I am on the road to recovery

Played 18 (at my new course) and shot 82 which is 4 over my handicap, but I was just happy to be out there to be honest

My biggest problem, excluding my back, was getting the pace of the greens, I had a few 3 putts today as they are so much better and quicker than our old course and I left a lot of putts very short

Still very early in the season though and I will adjust

Out for golf today, played better than last time and usefully still have a working driver \o/ :p

Weather wasn't ideal, started off raining and a touch windy, did stop raining at least but the wind got quite excessive at times! Made for some interesting shots, I felt I was a bit more inconsistent direction wise today but much better short game, especially putting (switched back to the mallet!).

Good to be out in the fresh air as usual, hopefully if I can get the car re-tested and MOT'd tomorrow I'll get a few more rounds in this weekend, otherwise it's gonna be real boring :p
