Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

Wow, how things change! After a quick check around, the cheapest used one I could find was something like £130 -- for an N36L! What a laugh.

You need access to your DHCP server (usually your router). Once you've plugged the Gen8 into power and network, the ILO automatically powers on (the server stays off) and picks up an IP address from the DHCP server. If you can identify which IP that is (it may or may not be obvious from the name), open a browser to https://ipaddress and login with Administrator and the password that is printed on the little card attached to the server. You should now be in and be able to remotely power on the server, etc.

In order to gain access to the console screen and be able to mount ISOs through the ILO, you will need a trial ILO license (should be easy enough to Google for).

I knew it should be that simple. Thanks, got Windows Server 2012 installing now.
 
Huzzah! I'm glad I didnt buy one off eGay now!

Will def snap one up this time, just need to find somewhere that qualifies for the cash back offer. Checked a few places that presumably haven't updated their site to reflect the offer or simply don't have any stock :(

EDIT 2: Well I bought it! Cost me £222 (p&p + VAT), but after cashback I'll be dead happy! Started to fill my claim form in already haha. As I'm not part of a company, I've put under the section that says "Company Name (cheque payable to)" my name , and under "Company Address (where the cheque will be sent)" my address....that'll be ok right?

Yup, that's exactly what I did and had no problems.

I believe that is the latest gen7, the next one up is the gen 8 which it quite a bit more expensive.

EDIT: I've just checked the website that i ordered mine from earlier. The price has been up and down all day but now its at £240+VAT, they must be selling fast.
