Good SIM Only plans?

I'm glad I've found this thread. My contact is up in a month and I am thinking of going sim only and buying the phone outright.

I was going to go with Giff Gaff on their £12 pm deal. But now I've read the good reports on three I might change my mind.

I'll have a look at the Three £15pm deal.

Giffgaff suffer from horrible congestion, I'd say avoid like the plague unless you know that the area you are in doesn't suffer from this. You could try them out first to see, there is no commitment beyond the one month goodybag.

Does anyone know how long the roaming is part of the three deals for? Is it only a summer thing?
I ask as it was mentioned by a phone broker at work that there's a "suspicion" that the three roaming is only around for summer before they revert it and then restructure it for next years laws. A beta test if you will.

I'm currently with GG and whilst I dont have issues, the roaming is very interesting to me...

The issue is that if a mast is congested, Giffgaff users get the lowest priority.

The other issue is that they use O2's 3G network, which is just awful.

Giffgaff may be changing their goodybags sometime.
There's a poll on the GG forums asking for opinions, but the popular vote is currently £20 for unlimited data. £12 and £15 goodybags get capped at 3GB and 8GB (I think).

Been with 3 for years and used them quite a bit throughout Europe and a couple others. They really are the best. That spreadsheet says the 200 tariff doesn't have unlimited data when it does?

Last month I used 8.6GB of data. That's an easy month :p

For £12.50 a month with free 4G, it simply cannot be beat for performance, coverage and perks.

I was in Headley Surrey yesterday. No signal at all on my wifes phone on Three, but my giffgaff phone had a decent signal.

In parts of Weybridge, Surrey it is the same. Weak or no signal on Three.

Three isn't the best for coverage in my experience, but it you do have a good signal, it is excellent.

As Tomsk mentioned, I just got an email from GiffGaff and their £12 plan (previously unlimited data) is changing to 3GB, 500 minutes, unlimited texts. Useless for me as I honestly don't even call or text that much anymore. I've always felt their data speeds are very hit and miss too, so I'm long overdue for a change in network.

I was looking at EE and 3 to see what they had as data is most important to me, and I'm shocked to see that EE is so expensive. Even just 2GB of data still costs £20 on a 12 month contract. Month-to-month then it's £23. So I think it's 3's £15 unlimited data plan for me, which is great as it's the same price whether you go for month-to-month or a 12 month contract.

Quick question about the 3 £15 1 month SIM though - once I've activated it, can I then log into my account and have it automatically rebill me every month until I choose to stop it? So for example I could activate it on Sep 01, and then 8 months later during the middle of the month I could decide I want to stop and simply deactivate automatic payment?

Also thinking of moving to three but unsure what the coverage will be like? I heard the coverage is not that great in London (south east London), Anyone with three in London care to share your opinion?

Definitely patchy, it has stopped me switching to Three even though I'm desperate to find something better than giffgaff.

I moved from Three to EE and went for this Sim Only plan in store:

£19.99 p/m
Unlimited Calls
Unlimited Text
4GB data (4G)

That's on a 12 month tariff which I think is a fairly good deal

I'll be moving to a Sim only deal in November and after reading this thread it sounds like Three is the way to go.

Currently paying Virgin about £35, using about 150 minutes, 150 texts and 5GB data

Three do 200 minutes unlimited texts and unlimited data for £15, which is great but if I could find somewhere cheaper for 5gb data I'd consider it.

You could use Topcashback to lower the cost down a bit?
