Goodwood Festival of Speed 2022 / 2023 / 2024

I was supposed to be there yesterday. I am deeply disappointed that it was cancelled. Bear in mind I travelled down from Aberdeen. We went to the Amberley Museum instead and had a great time but it wasn’t Goodwood.

We had an amazing day yesterday - I took my 11 old son and he totally loved it. We left the house at about 4:30am and got back home at 1am :p
The event has expanded massively since I last went in 2004 and it was rammed, but did get less busy after about 4pm. There is so much to do and see now that you really need 2-3 days to cover it.

Some of my photos

This cared for Lambo was parked in the Supercar car park, right by the main entrance and was receiving a lot of attention

A collection of previous McLaren F1's - The difference between Hunt's '77 car and the aero 2008 car is huge.

Did not go this year, watched live on youtube instead.

Surprised there was a couple motors with engine swaps to the trusty old 2JZ, the BMW drift motor was one I think another drift motor as well.

Fairly significant impact for that CG901 - sideways, rear wheel first into the scenery is a recipe for some pretty solid mechanical damage.
I think he got lucky and was closer to straight on. Still, that'll be an engine and gearbox out for a deep inspection at the very least. Suspension mounting on the gearbox is a problem there, same with the diff, both taking impact loading. However, it's all fixable. Still not a cheap incident though.

Epic photos! The Scooby was the one to get my heart rate up the most. It's like it has been on a journey with me; I remember when it was just an "ugly bug eyed Scooby" but that thing is so awesome with the benefit of hindsight.

Also, the Daytona is really growing on me!

What's the crack with the Porsche Macan though? Sticks out for being vanilla lol.

I blame my tiredness for posting that one :D. At the end of each batch they had multiple course cars that would race up the hill (I think they took paying customers up). So I used them for practise.

As compensation here are some other photos from the same drift session.

Finally done going through all of them so here they are.

I wish I was more creative with some of my shots

The star of the show and the porsche 919 Hybrid

This was interesting to edit as I saw myself improving through Porsche 75 moment and into the sunday shootout. And damn does it look good when you don't use a shutter speed of 1/8000 sec. I don't even know why I did that during the drift session.

I’ve had the YouTube feed on in the background all day today and I don’t know if I’m imagining it or not but there seem to be far fewer cars going up the hill than in previous years.

I’ve had the live feed running in the background since day 1 on Thursday and have noticed the same.
The Timed Shoot Out today was only 10 cars. They have created 7 categories, so most of them only have 1 car in them
Thursday was around 1 hour of content, repeated through the day :(

Did get a notification on my phone that Lotus had a bad day with the Evija X. :( Looks like a tech failure on that one tbh.

Other than that, didn't get to see much of it. :(
