Google employees given Google Nexus

Does anyone know if you can disable the nexus from making a 3g data connection? The tariff I'm on at the moment does not have a data allowance and I don't want to get stung. I have turned off the syncing when I'm not in a wifi area, but I just wondered if you can disable 3g data altogether?

Thanks for that list stoke, I've checked a few of them out. I want that sleep cycle app but apparently it doesn't work on the nexus at the moment.

There is an app i think, cant remember the name off the top of my head at the moment though, ill see if i can find it....

Seems the one i was thinking of (APNdroid) dosen't work on the N1 going by the comments. Did find 'Toggle Data Widget' though, that looks like it may work.

Try searching the market for APN. :)

So it does work on the N1?

lol i do wonder about some of the comments in the market sometimes...

I've just ordered my phone now....

I am however quite prone to throwing my phone at the floor in fits of epic coordination! Does anyone have any reccomendations for a durable case that will give good protection? I've had a bit of a look about, but I'd rather have the opinion of someone that has tried one out!

Does anyone know if the Nexus will be available on Vodafone in March as thats when I can upgrade, March 11th to be precise as this phone looks like a worthwhile upgrade!

Voadafone are still saying its a few weeks before it will be available. They won't release any more information.

Hopefully be able to order one next week once my market sales are complete. However in the meantime I'm intereted to know what's the best SIM only deal to get, T-Mobile?

I'm in the same boat as you. I think T-mobile are the best yes. I'm probably going to go for the SIM only 12 month contract:

600 mins
500 texts

Then I will select the unlimited internet 'flexible booster'. That has a FUP of 1Gb per month. Did a bit of checking around earlier for alternatives, but couldn't find anything that good. Let me know if you find anything though!

I just got a T-Mobile rolling monthly thingy for mine - £20 for unlimited texts, 1GB of internet and 600 minutes. And because I went to a Carphone Warehouse, on a wet Thursday, they threw in £20 and an 8GB micro SD to get the sale :D

Vodafone 12 month contracts are another option - £20 a month for less internet [500mb] but 900 minutes. Plus quidco will give you £100 back on that contract when you take it out online.

Near me [Cardiff] I struggle to get good speeds off T-Mobile, typically my mate with his Nexus gets 1.x Mbps whereas I get 0.3x Mbps :( I Plan to see if that changes with the iphone's introduction onto Vodafone, and if it doesn't then I'll switch.

You pays your moneys, you makes your choices

got my VAT bill today! £59 not too bad it spreads to cost of the phone out.

So i paid £410 for nexus and sold the HTC HD2 i got with virgin for £385 so not too bad
