It's only going to help with screen-off time, so while it might be 25% more efficient (I've just plucked a number out of thin air),

The first build got 30% more battery on web browsing tests. I think there is going to be huge gains from usage too, it will be a lot smarter with how it handles tasks and group them all together.

I don't mind the speaker quality (I'd use headphones when the quality really mattered), but I'll say again that the speaker position is absolutely horrendous. Anywhere else on the phone would be an improvement.

Headphones are also lacking, the Nexus 5 is pretty quiet, any other phone I try is much much louder, and I think its missing bits, I'm not a sound buff so I can't explain it all but there is some missing details and things you would notice on other devices.

Here is a really nice reddit thread.

highlights are that the camera can now take 3 shots in less the 3ms. No hardware changes, purely software that shows just how much of a difference it makes.

Another nice review where you see what we could expect, this also means if 3rd party developers get to start of with nice Raws instead of JPEG that have already been tainted.

Wow! Looking really good!

Then I will see a massive gain! :p

Majority of my usage is web browsing.

I find the volume of the n5 speaker to be more than enough, it just lacks quality and bass.

Volume for me is an issue when I'm travelling on the underground, find it straggles I bit against the loud trains, this is through headphones off course. Speakers are nice for me, rather front facing units as its just better for gaming etc etc, but I only really need it for notification and games.

I think the Ambient Display feature on the Nexus 6 taken by Moto from the Moto X is a good feature. Recall this is the feature that wakes up the N6 when you lift it up or when you tap it twice. This is almost the same as the Moto X feature (Moto Display, formerly Active Display) that perks up when you get near it.

That's all good and well, but the DNG converted JPGs are over 1mb and the "JPGs straight off the camera" are 300kb and have been compressed to heck in comparison to the DNG conversions. There is more detail in the DNGs, but with such a file size difference that is to be expected.

Hopefully it's not a biased (or worse, a technically limited) test and that the camera software is indeed simply that much better.

Mahdi-ROM (or Franco Kernel, or a combination of both) has a variation of this on the Nexus 5. When you have a notification, the screen will stay off until you lift the phone up, at which point the notification appears in the centre of the screen. Quite nifty, though it takes a little getting used to after years of notification noise > lift handset > press power button. :p

Yeah I understand that, but the good thing is that 3rd party developers can take this untouched picture and then do whatever they want instead of a crappy JPEG.

Same, it has so many things done correct, finally returned to OLED panel, really solid build, front facing speakers, better camera.

And finally 64GB. Plus I have a soft spot for Motorola. I really wanted the Atrix back in the day but it was too flawed.

did he just finish that video with putting it in his non baggy jeans pocket? what sort of witch craft is this?! I'd been reliably informed you'd need at least a 25l rucksack to haul this mammoth around... :p

does look incredibly good from that short clip - pretty much decided this will be the replacement for my note 3 :)

yeah its kind of clever - most peoples concerns about this are the size and the camera - that video almost addresses both concerns ( "its big but feels way better in the hand than i was expecting") and the bulk of the clip discusses how good the camera is.
was there a google exec in the background with a gun to Mr Verges head? :D

Argh, looks great but I KNOW its too big for my baby sized hands. The tech nerd inside of me wants this bad.

Exactly my feelings towards it. I'll wait until its out and I can actually have a go with one but I'm fairly sure in the end I'll justify it to myself. The larger screen would actually be great for my uses I'm just worried about my small hands letting me down!
