Too big, too expensive, not worthy of the Nexus name (all IMHO of course)

Why is it not worthy of the Nexus name? Is it because its a premium device priced as such rather than being a lot cheaper?

Compared to other flagships its still cheaper (Note 4, iPhone 6+).

Personally, I love the new premium route Google has taken and I wish it continues.

If it was a HTC or a Samsung no one would batter an eye lid at the price but because its Google the internet is on fire.

While they were still excellent value, the previous Nexus phones mostly all had a few notable drawbacks. I think the camera on this will be average, but we'll see...

I'd personally rather pay a lot more money and get something that isn't compromised in some way.

I want to see one to see how it fits in the hand(s). I don't think I can justify upgrading from the Nexus 5 which is still not a year since I got it. After seeing the Note 4 and not thinking it looked too big anymore makes me think the size isn't an issue. If I did have one gripe I don't like the huge Motorola logo on the back. At least LG were small with theirs on the Nexus 5 and 7 (2013).

To me, Nexus showcased unadulterated Android at a great price... this fails (I stress - for me) on the price. I suspect I'll be looking in OnePlus's direction when I decide to renew, I read they're providing vanilla Android for the OnePlus One now/soon.

Fully agree, much rather pay for better hardware. The camera on the Nexus 5 is performing really good on Android L, the RAWs its taking are pretty amazing, I think it could be really nice, it is mostly just software holding things back and Camera API 2.0 looks really nice.

Loving Lollipop on my Nexus 5, can't wait for the finished version.
I was playing with my Nexus 4 running a ROM which has the latest leaked Google apps on, they look lovely and it runs so well.

Card at the ready for the 6 coming to the play store! :)

Having just held a 5.5" LG device, I can say this is probably not for me unless they add some thumb location customisation. It's just too big

This.

Having held and played around with a iPhone 6+ it was bigger than I'd like and annoying from using your thumb point of view - I can't imagine the Nexus 6 screen being much fun to use, 5.9" just seems a little too far on the size front for a phone. I'll give it a try out in a shop but can't imagine I'd like it :(.

Good to hear that! I am already very impressed with the nexus 5 camera, review sites slate it as usual.... but end users who actually know how to get decent shots are producing amazing shots with the n5 as shown in the xda thread:

The thing I love the most about the n5 camera, you don't need to mess with settings or take more than one photo to get a good shot. Out of the hundreds of photos that I have taken, not a single one has been out of focus, blurry etc. even in low light conditions. Just focus on the object you want and take the photo.

I know there are people who think the battery life is shocking but from my experience it is good, gets me through a day easily with about 4 hours on screen time and with light usage, 2 days and 2-3 hours screen time (using auto brightness and mobile data or wifi all the time)

I am curious as to how much more I can get from one charge when android L arrives.

The only compromise that google made with the n5 afaic is the speaker and mic. The stereo audio in recorded videos is poor.

It's only going to help with screen-off time, so while it might be 25% more efficient (I've just plucked a number out of thin air), that might only equate to an extra 1% of battery life saved overnight. I tend to lose 2% from 10pm to 6:30am, so gaining an extra 0.5% of life overnight is going to make little difference. Obviously the screen-on time is the killer and of course Lollipop won't be able to help with that.

Then again I get full 3G signal both at home and work, so my battery lasts longer than most anyway, and Lollipop might be more efficient in dealing with less than perfect signals?

I don't mind the speaker quality (I'd use headphones when the quality really mattered), but I'll say again that the speaker position is absolutely horrendous. Anywhere else on the phone would be an improvement.

Android L should bring camera improvements to all phones

Here is a really nice reddit thread.

highlights are that the camera can now take 3 shots in less the 3ms. No hardware changes, purely software that shows just how much of a difference it makes.

Another nice review where you see what we could expect, this also means if 3rd party developers get to start of with nice Raws instead of JPEG that have already been tainted.

Ah then I probably won't see much benefit either! I turn off data/wifi at night (23.30-09.00) so only lose about 1% and like you, I always get very good mobile data strength.

Yup the speaker placement is awful! I remember when I first got the phone, I always kept covering it with my wee finger. But then I also hate speakers being placed on the back of the phone....

Front facing speaker(s) is the only sensible way to implement the speaker(s), oh why couldn't the n6 have been <5.5"?! :(

Those other phones are going to have to wait for quite a while though :p
