I managed to crack the corner of my screen a few months ago, phone is still working perfectly though and the crack isn't over the actual viewing part of the screen, just the top 5-6mm. Screen repair was around £140, so thought i'd leave it. Looks like it'll be cheaper to just buy a replacement now with some of the deals popping up.

Anyway, I bought a USB flash drive with a mini USB OTG connector the other day, but i'm struggling to get my N6 to read it. It picks up that it's there through ES file explorer, but comes up with an error when trying to access it, saying the format isn't compatable. I've tried formatting it to both exFAT and NTFS, but still nothing. Am i missing something?

Phone is totally standard, not rooted and running latest updates.

Don't you have to root to get a Nexus device to be able to use external storage? I had to do that with my N5. Think you need to root in order to install something that then allows the phone to properly read external storage devices.

I've just had a new USB drive delivered and a OTG converter cable. Seems to be working fine now without rooting. So maybe there was just something wrong with the other drive.

Nice. It'll be for my Sister. Mega bargain if it all goes to plan.

Awesome, I selected free delivery too, not sure it'll come tomorrow though.

I subscribe to Play Music and have been looking to download the music to a plug in ext card but I can't find a way so it looks like I'm going back to 'other means' of getting my music. It'll let you do it on a phone with an internal card reader so shout out to Google for gimping their devices. Since I'm stuck with this phone for a while it's just an incentive for people to pirate as I'm not in places with a good enough connection all the time, mainly in the car. All I want to do is move it all offline like people with a card slot can!

They've come the closest yet to giving me what I want but screwed up the storage part.

Seems the expansys stock are French Retail units, 2 pin turbo charger and a uk adapter

Just done 4 system updates, phone was on 5.0.

I don't quite understand this? You mean plug in the USB OTG style? Would you not just download it onto the SD card on your PC?

If it's about connection, would you not simply download the necessary playlist to device?

Got the Expansys deal too, should be a decent upgrade from the N5

How long does it take for the points to land in the R****** account after the order is placed? Still awaiting Quidco track

Update - Quidco tracked, approx 7 hrs after purchase

That's the issue, since Play Music is so good i've discovered more good music in the last 6 months than I have in years. That translates to more music than I can fit in a crappy couple of gigs of internal storage.

It only lets you download your own music from Play Music on the PC, not music from Google.

Edit: I've also got 6 Playlists already because they're limited to 1K songs. Perhaps I'm being greedy but all I want is all of it offline all the time, I'm paying so it can't be that unreasonable surely? I could easily do so if I wasn't paying if you get my drift. I could still discover new music too, as it gives you related artists even on your own music.

I see. Sorry, I don't pay monthly, I buy as I go. I guess it makes sense you can't download it all when you pay monthly, or you pay for 1 month, download 300gig of music and never pay again...

I can understand it's an issue if you're in an intermittent area for signal. I guess in London the underground is an issue.

Wouldn't 6,000 songs take around 16 days to listen to, if you listened non-stop? Perhaps your only option is to plan what you'll listen too if you know your going somewhere without connection?

I'm not big into music, so I only ever have around 200 tracks on my phone, so it's hard for me to understand your pain unfortunately. (Or fortunately for me I guess)

I see your point, there might not be much to be made from someone downloading everything for a tenner a month. They'll let you do it on any phone with an SD slot, so I can't see an issue with them adding OTG support as the music is DRM'd anyway. It probably doesn't help that I can quite easily go from Iron Maiden to Paloma Faith within a couple of songs, so even I don't know what I'm going to want next. There is no 'ah, I'm in a Hard House mood today' for me which is what Google seems to expect and cater for with the tiny playlists.

I might just get a crap Galaxy S2/3 with a big SD card as like I say, I really do like Play Music and the ease of use. I'd genuinely pay another fiver on top if they'd just stop being terrified of (and unwittingly causing) piracy and add OTG support. Or an SD card to their Nexus brand, either would be good. :D

Edit: Well success, I had a gripe to Ranjeeth from Amazon and said I didn't want a repair as it was already my second handset so he's whacked a refund on it for me. I got it when it was still a fair price so I should be able to pick up a 2014 flagship with an SD slot and I'll be over the moon.

Not sure to be exact. Some say 16 days.

Cheers, will keep my eyes peeled. Got some stuff I want to order for christmas presents so the extra £70 will come in nicely.

For those that have used Expansys before, but chose their next day delivery, does that come via DHL or do they still use Parcelforce for next day stuff as well as 48-72 hr stuff?
