So my fiancée got an update the other day but it's still on 5.1.1

But now it keeps giving her a no sim card error. Any ideas? It's just stock, no root or custom rom

Sweet, just flashed the factory image and getting it set up now.

Seems like they've straightened out some of the kinks of LP (like the volume controls for starters!).

Can anyone recommend a nice and simple gallery replacement please? I don't like how Photos defaults into the stupid cloud view...

Cheers,

Su

Quickpic is the best I have used

have flashed N6 today with Marshmallow :)
I liked option to choose what apps to reinstall from backup/playstore :)
we will see how it behaves in terms of battery :)

They are recoveries

TWRP = Team win recovery project

CWM = clockworkmod

flash using fastboot commands or I think the toolkit does it too.
Finally got there! All rooted. :) Took a few goes and having to flash stock and unroot multiple times but I'm there. Confirmed root with Root Checker and all good. :) Going to watch some sport and let phone update apps. Will then try my external USB microSD card adapter and see if I can get music playing.

Had a weird marshmallow issue yesterday, my phone location insisted i was in Glasgow.

All my google cards said i was 350 miles away and it would take me hours to get home, even though I was at home. My Maps said i was in a field just west of the centre.

Really strange, after a reboot it was fine.

My phone turned itself off 3 times earlier this morning (half an hour ago) when I was using the phone to test something at work. The third time the phone refused to turn back on and was showing me the battery icon to say the battery was low. It was on 80% so there's something obviously wrong as it now affect the phone as well as the camera and has persisted since I've upgraded to Android 6 with several wipes in between.

Think I shall contact Amazon and ask for either a refund or a replacement. Would prefer a refund so I can put the money towards a Nexus 6P. Will Amazon give me any hassle over this?

My Nexus 6 is being returned tomorrow after sending it back last week due to the screen autorotate stopping working. The phone they are returning though has a different IMEI number. Is this normal as I would have assumed even if they changed the main board they could program back the original IMEI being manufacturer authorised. Or have they replaced my phone with a new one? Anyone know?

Amazon will give you a refund no problemo, I had a replacement handset off them and then sent that one back too. They wanted to repair it but a quick gripe on the chat got them on side.

Good luck with the 6P, I decided not to bother and I'm quite happy with my fully working Note 4. I had huge problems with reboots and the camera app on both of my N6s so was more than happy to never see it again.

Long shot but take a photo while holding the top speaker close to your ear. Hear any interference from the speakers? Also make a video in a quiet room and play it back full volume, see if you have any static in the background as mine did. I'm still convinced that many of these suffer from the same problems and some people are just too gormless to notice/care. :D

Cheers. I've contacted Motorola UK support as well. I've emailed Amazon to tell them of the issue and to ask what they can do and can I have a refund. I can't buy the 6P right now as its not in stock on Google UK's store. :p

I've had a quick Google and it seems that Nexus 6s have a habit of turning off. Some people reckon its an Amazon app causing the problem so I've removed that and will see if that helps. Someone else said they reset the battery logs or something. I'm wondering if my phone is misreporting its charge and is actually much lower than the 80% today when it crashed one me.

I'll try the photo with phone to my ear and video in quiet room tomorrow. :) Can't say I've noticed anything before. If there's any interference I would assume its because of my hearing aids rather than the phone itself! :D

Yeah don't blast yourself and make your hearing worse. :o

Mine liked turning off when I was using the camera most but it could happen any time. Both my handsets had the static/interference problem with the camera too, if it was just one I'd have written it off as another randomised bit of bad luck. It also hated switching wifi signals and would have that stupid exclamation mark on the icon until I toggled plane mode.

mobile radio is worse on marshmallow...
and since 5.1.1 facebook and messenger are eating through battery like crazy even though not used much...
but mobile radio is crazy...in the past I had no problems with signal and now, it shows orange for most of the time and barely ever green

Got my update yesterday. Battery a little better and things seem snappier.

Anyone know anything about the supposed inclusion of visual voicemail? I still get my voicemail alerts in the usual way and cannot find this feature anywhere.

Cheers.

In the dialler tap the top right, settings, calls & then voicemail. I think you have to have it enabled by your provider too, I know Three don't support it.
