Agreed - it'd take a special handset for me to give up vanilla Android.

I'm still looking forward to the next crop of phones though - should be a good year.

My new Nexus 6 has been shipped today, so I'll likely get it next week now, but Motorola are still being complete idiots and not sending my DHL return label, and have now stopped responding to my emails, their online chat system is equally useless, all they do is read off a script and tell you what you already know

I've now taken to all their twitter accounts to see if that makes a difference?

My replacement N6 arrived today, so far I've unlocked the bootloader & removed the encryption (which feels a lot snappier I must say) so my question: Do I root & install custom recovery? And do I re-lock the bootloader either before rooting or after, or should I keep it unlocked (if so, any worries by doing so?) :)

I believe franco's kernel will not re-enable encryption so your all good there.

TWRP should also not interfere IRC.

I also leave my bootloader unlocked as I'm not too concerned about any security issues associated with doing so.

Good to hear you noticed a little performance boost with encryption disabled - I'll be doing that on my next full wipe.

New phone all good build wise?

Loving being back on Android after a year with iOS (A WHOLE YEAR!..... without swapping phones)

Loving it so much so that i'm thinking of getting a N6 64gb to replace my 3 day old S6 :D

I take it its still one of the best VFM handsets out there and a very good price on Motorola at the moment (Pity no white 64gb though)

OOS :-(

Was in stock when i looked this morning, then went out of stock again, then back in again while i was out and about, and by the time i was back home it was out of stock again.

Fingers crossed it comes back in stock.
