I had a quick look on xda and as I expected they are going nuts over the price.

I still can't understand the issue. The phone on paper is one of the best smartphones out there, yet is cheaper than the closest equivalent note 4.

Were people honestly expecting to pay about 300 quid for this or something?!

The nexus 5 was cheaper but on paper it was not right at the top in terms of spec. The note 3 for example had better spec.

This nexus 6 is pretty much on par with the note 4 aside from slightly less "megapixels" and no fingerprint scanner. But the nexus 6 is water resistant and has a bigger screen which I would take over more megapixels and a fingerprint scanner.

It's just disappointment over the price being more than expected.

As much as it does make sense to pay top price for top hardware, a lot of us have got used to Nexus devices being much cheaper than the competition, so naturally we had expected that here as well.

That's fair enough.

I appreciate that recently nexus devices have had the reputation of being cheap high spec smartphones.

However I remember buying the galaxy nexus (nexus 3), that was at the top end of the pricing tree, and the phone wasn't all that. It was only the nexus 4 and 5 that had the low price high spec model.

And I think to an extent the nexus 6 does too, I mean compared to similar high end phones the price is cheaper.

Anyway I'm looking forward to finding out the Uk price.

I reckon it'll be £549 for the 64gb and £499 for the 32gb

£549 for 64 GB will still be a decent price, same sort of price as the Note near enough.

Still not sure what to do about my next phone though personally, I'll probably end up with the Note 4, as I'd like to give a larger phone a go, but the Nexus may be just a bit too big, as well as lacking in external memory, multitasking, and S-pen.

I think a few hands on are needed though first!

Im seriously considering getting it.

I just hope its not too big for me.

To give you an idea if you've ever seen an iphone 6 plus in person this is how the nexus 6 looks with regards to size. If you haven't then I suppose if you could hold an iphone 6 plus in an apple shop so you'll know beforehand if the nexus 6 will be too big for you

Thank you - water resistance is a big deal for me and the one thing that really turned me off the note 4.
nexus 6 it is then!
No worries :)

It was only the N4 and N5 that were cheap. Previous Nexus phones were the same price as other phones.

I'm pretty sure the Nexus One was somewhere around $600?

Yeah you're absolutely right. The 4 and 5 were the only "cheap" ones. But some people think Google are obligated to now sell heavily subsidised phones.

As I said earlier the galaxy nexus I had was priced as high as any other flagship phone. As was the Nexus one and Nexus s. Google tried something different with the 4th nexus and when they found the pricing model was successful they done similar with the 5.

I like the route google have taken, I was all set for a note 4 but the nexus 6 is a no brainer for me.

This self entitlement that the nexus 6 MUST be cheap is similar to people complaining about ps plus not giving AAA games away lol. I'm still struggling to get my head around the notion that the nexus 6 is overpriced, how?! It's cheaper than other flagship phones yet has higher specs in most cases.

I guess some people have different definitions of what overpriced means....Overpriced for me would be if the nexus 6 had the same specs as the moto x but they were charging the same money as the current nexus 6.

Surprised seeing it next to the iPhone.

They really have done well with the lack of bezel

Water resistant? Surprised they didn't make a bigger deal of that?

Hmm, though I guess its water resistant rather than water proof, and that can mean varying levels of resistance.

So long as I can take it out of my pocket when its raining and not have to worry then I'm happy. Dropping it into a river "because i can" doesnt really appeal :D

Couldn't agree more :) Somebody has sense I see :p

If this was a Samsung phone, people wouldn't be complaining about the price. If it was an Apple product, people wouldn't be complaining about the price.

The question you have to ask (which you've said already but I'll repeat it anyway) is: are the specs worth the price? Yes, yes they are.

@JimLad
Thanks for the photos. Surprisingly, from this Apple source (MacWorld) link, there is a fairly objective comparison between the Nexus 6 and the iphone 6+ in which one can conclude that the Nexus is the better phone! While they have not yet had a Nexus 6 to actually test, they have made a comprehensive comparison between the two based on the data released by Google/Moto.

I keep saying in comments that not enough has been made of the quick charging feature (15 mins gives you 6 additional hours) on the Nexus 6. It is a real great feature for the heavy user and will come in very handy for most of us.

What do you guys make of this link?

http://www.macworld.co.uk/review/iphone/google-nexus-6-vs-iphone-6-plus-comparison-3581163/

PS....I tend to agree with others here that the pricing (based on the US $ 650 price mentioned for US buyers) will likely land at around 400 quid plus VAT or 480.

Fair enough, but my first impression from actually reading the link, and ignoring the iOS claim, is that they conclude the Nexus 6 is actually the better phone! They do a through job of comparing actual features---hardware and software---and they pick up the point I made about the extra battery feature charge.

Horses for courses.
