The nexus 6 is 1.2mm taller, 5.2mm wider and 3mm thicker (but with a curved back). With how big the phone is I doubt anyone would really notice the difference compared to the 6+.
It only has 0.5" more screen because apple love ridiculous bezels.

What would you suggest? Again I have little a clue about Android phones.
All Id want is a decent screen (Obviously not to the standard as these massive ones but you know what I mean.), bit of power and wireless charging would be nice.
Do you think the iPhone 6 (not plus) is too big? I'd just get that... but if you want Android then the Z3 compact is quite a good small option.
The Nexus 5 could be an option as it's quite cheap and will let you try out Android.
Sony xperia z3 compact springs to mind.

It will be sold out in the US after a couple of hours and we'll wait another four weeks for it.
+1 Excellent choice.
It's only just slightly taller and wider than the iphone 5s but retains the power packed features of its older brother bar the 1080p screen which is replaced by a 720p screen (which in itself is no slouch) and 2GB ram instead of 3GB ram.
The phone absolutely flies and is a joy to use.

That's not what I wanted to hear URGH!!!
Still I got the Z3 to keep me going and pretty soon my N5 will have lollipop so it's all good and it gives me time to save up for the N6.
