Stopped in to O2 and Voda locally. Here's the deal.

O2 store will not get Nexus 6 currently.

Voda has following 2 year deals (they currently are not offering the Nexus 6 SIM free):

4 options: Red 4G Red L 4G Red XL 4G Red XXL 4G

calls/texts: all four plans are unlimited
UK data: 4 GB 7 GB 10 GB 20 GB
content: 6 months 24 months 24 months 24 months
(Netflix or Spotify (or same as L same as L plan
Spotify) free 6 mos Netflix plan
price/mo 39.50 44.50 49.50 54.50
up front: 19 0 0 0

Pre-orders begin tomorrow. First 500 orders get a free Moto 360 smartwatch. Delivery in store 5 December.

Seems like the carriers/operators are getting preference? The SIM free prices look good. Comments?

Sorry, my typing did not conform to Overclockers format.

Tried to say That Red 4G plan gets 6 mo free Netflix or 6 mo free Spotify. The other plans get 24 months of free Spotify or 6 months only of free Netflix.

Blimey, buying outright it is for me then (as always).

@hughtrimble

I agree. As mentioned in earlier posts, I am a Google Glass Explorer and do not need or want a smartwatch. Glass is a far superior experience in my view. So the free smartwatch offer holds no interest for me.

Let's assume we are lucky enough to get a SIM free Nexus 6 32 GB from the Play Store at 499, adding your own SIM card should be the much better deal. I find the free Google Music offer for 6 months of more interest than the smartwatch. But perhaps I am biased due to Glass and not a fair benchmark for others to use?

I actually want to get a smartwatch, with moto 360 being my preference if I were to get one of the current generation and not wait for the next generation to come out, so that offer is tempting.

Would we know at the time of pre-order whether we get the free watch though? or even what time the pre-orders start tomorrow?

Thats not a bad deal, if you want a Moto 360. Excluding watch and phone (I presume its the 16GB version) you only pay £318 for line rental, which works out at £13.25/month for the Red L tariff.

My maths is slightly different but not too dis-similar. 44.50 per mo for the Red L tariff for 24 months is 1068, less 200 for the free watch = 868 less 499 for the assumed 32 GB phone (not 16 GB) is 15.38 per month for 24 months. Assumes you want the watch (2 Lenovo products!).

By the way, my local Carphone Warehouse has no info on the Nexus 6.

I may also be able to get 10% student discount which makes it an even better deal, though it wouldn't surprise me if each offer has a 'not in conjunction with any other offer' clause.

Guy in the local vodafone store didn't seem to really have any info on what was happening other than he thinks it is an online only phone and won't be in stores. Pre-order he reckoned could be available from midnight or atleast very soon thereafter.

My bad... I thought the Moto 360 was £250

Of course this is not including the Quidco/TCB rebates, which should net you at least £60 back.

Let's say you wanted the nexus, moto 360, and spotify.

The 44.50 plan is £1,068.
Less £499 for phone and £200 for watch, £369.
Less £9.99x24 for spotify, £129.24.
Less £60.60 topcashback, it is £69.24 or £2.89 per month for line rental.

Expensive if you only want the phone though.

What you are suggesting is what I have been saying for a while. This is a deal which Google, Lenovo and Moto are pitching as a carrier friendly offer. Moto has a history of working closely with carriers, rather than doing SIM free type deals, esp in the US. They have long been close to Verizon for example.

mobilcity have them for preorder right now, so i rang them up and after trying them a few times they answered, couldnt really get any sense out of the guy, he didnt seem to know anything and reckoned that if i pre order now i will get it delivered after release day and after every other company thats selling them...so screw that, ordering from somewhere else!

Has anyone looked at cases for the Nexus yet? Or is it better to wait a bit?

I'm a mechanic and my phone does get knocked about a bit, so a case would be nice.

I went with a Spigen case (Ultra Hybrid Series - Gunmetal) off the rainforest place. I also grabbed some cheap screen protectors.

If they are no good then I'll change them later when more stuff and reviews are out :)
