The reviews that say it is good are reviewing the units in isolation and based on impressions at the time.

I'm sure the screen looks good in isolation but comparatively it is pretty poor.

Anandtech and ars technica use comparatives to demonstrate why it is objectively poorer whilst other reviews and just commenting on impressions.

Anandtech suggest the screen isn't very good

"Overall, the Nexus 6 display is quite poor relative to the displays on other smartphones like the Galaxy Note 4, iPhone 6, and HTC One (M7). It's also a definite regression from the display on the Nexus 5, which is concerning given the fact that the Nexus 6 is $300 more expensive."

Pretty poor max brightness by the looks of things. Probably be naff in sunlight if that is the case.

GSMArena

The display's brightness is impressive too, as is its contrast. Viewing angles are great you will be able to easily share your content with other people.

Sunlight legibility is excellent. Users will be able to view their content even in places with bright light.

Has to bee seen in person I guess. YMMV.

I wonder if something was perhaps wrong with the AnandTech Nexus 6 screen... such contrasting opinions seems strange. If you took quotes from GSMArena and AnandTech you would think they were talking about completely different phones!

Anandtech are pretty thorough and like said above they try to be objective as possible by comparing each part to other current phones. I am more inclined to think their review is more accurate. Though I think the phone will be pretty good overall still.

I am not at all impressed with the nexus 6 and I think the hardware of the iphone is by far and away the best available.

But gosh darn it lollipop is seriously amazing. I cant quit you nexus.

You seem to be chasing the Unicorn that is the perfect phone - It never seems to happen.

Nexus 6 is fine package. It's only the size that will potentially bother me.

MKBHD Review is up...

Says the screen is great, only bested by the Note 4's.
Performance is buttery, with the occasional delay.
Camera he is impressed with.
Battery life is average, turbo charger is great.

Overall positive and a good showcase for Lollipop.

I reckon performance and stamina will only get better with SW updates.

I am believing this as well. I want this device already! :D

Come on Google. I must have watched about 4-5 YouTube reviews of this already, still has not swayed me. Contemplating Note 4 but realised I just won't use the S-Pen features. This is the one. :o :D

Performance I fully expect to improve, still would have been better to go with a ArmV8 SoC for the much faster security algorithms e.g. SHA-1 is almost 1000% faster. The battery life I'm going to say its hugely held back by the display, the difference in S5 -> S4 in screen is huge and taking the S4~ panel and blowing it to 1440p can't be easy on the battery.

I was going to also go for the Note 4. Changed my mind to this. I'm coming from a Note 2 and the only things I don't like or need are the S-Pen and Samsung bloatware.

The problem with this phone is the price; the other recent nexus phones were compromised hardware packages but very cheap and running the latest software. That is what made them palatable

This phone has a top end price with hardware that is slightly behind the top segment. Its only selling point is the pure android software.

But it doesn't really have a top end price does it? It's main competitors are the Note 4 and iPhone 6+. The Note 4 is £100 more, and the 6+ is £200 more!
