Don't even need to worry about that, download the OTA zip file and sideload it with the stock recovery.

This, I didn't even know this was possible I have always downloaded the factory image & not flashed userdata

Do Google release OTA zips or is it community made?

Well, they're publicly accessible on Google's servers, as that's how the phones get them.

Got an OTA notification to update to android 6.0 tonight, was only looking at doing it manually earlier this afternoon too, glad I didn't bother now.

Just done it by sideloading. Bit of a faff but worked ok

Question - did they unify all the various builds of LP (Project Fi, T-Mobile etc.) when they moved to MM?

I'm on Chroma 5.1.1 but getting all sorts of annoying problems, so thinking of doing a full reset and going back to bone stock MM for a while.

Sweet, just flashed the factory image and getting it set up now.

Seems like they've straightened out some of the kinks of LP (like the volume controls for starters!).

Can anyone recommend a nice and simple gallery replacement please? I don't like how Photos defaults into the stupid cloud view...
