Google Pixel 6/6 Pro

My Pixel 6a is still going strong, I'll probably upgrade to a Pixel 10 when they drop

Have you bothered upgrading to Android 15? I've got the notification, but I'm purposefully holding off as I've heard some complaints that their phone is randomly restarting, and some 6 models (normal 6 or the Pro) were bricked in the early days of its release.

I'd hold fire too. Not like You're missing much

Anyone had any issues using "Hotspot" on pixel 6 ?

I'm on 5g connection. Speed tested to 100mb down and 10mb up and my playstation portal runs terrible when got spotted to my pixel 6.

Surely that's fast enough for streaming gaming ?

Only thing I can think of is the hotspot feature is holding it back not giving it the full speed but there's no way to speed test the ps portal.

It could be many reasons, are you sure it's the phone holding it back? Some SIM plans will limit tethering speeds too which can cause issues. You also need to see what the ping you get too, as that will be more important for the portal.

EE doesn't limit tethering speeds so it won't be that.

You still need to check the ping though, anything above 40ms I would say would cause issues with the Portal.

If i run a speed test on my phone before i connect to the Portal im getting 100Mb+ download and around 10mb download. Ping is looking 50-60.

Maybe its gonna be wifi only for the Portal.

Was really hoping i could use the hotpsot on the Pixel 6 for mobile gaming.

Thanks for your help.

My Pixel 6 is 2 years and 4 months old. And today I noticed, the battery is quite swollen. Is there any point in getting in touch with Google about a replacement or, given it's now 4 months out of warranty will they not be interested at all?

So, second question - how to choose a replacement? Pixel 8? 8A? 9? ...or there's a 9A on the way? But I really need to order this week!

Last September my OH's phone just stopped working and it would work for an hour an turn off. You couldn't see it as it had a case on but when I took it out it had bulged on the right hand side and the screen had separated from the body.
They asked for some pictures which are the ones below and started the RMA.

It was out of Warranty but I think as it was a battery fault replaced they still replaced it without question and did not ask for it to be returned.
So I took the old swollen phone to our local repair shop and they replaced the battery for £80 and now my daughter has that phone. :D

That's encouraging - but how did you navigate Google's 'contact us' site? Or, haven forbid, actually talk to someone?
I dunno try this?
That is exactly what I did. I went to the Get started on the Chat option. I bought it from the Google Store so only needed the order number and a screenshot of the IMEI number.
I think you chat to a bot first and I put Battery bulge or dangerous battery and it asks if you want to speak to someone.

Just a random one guys , not sure if anyone can help.

I bought a pixel 6 for mum from Ebay at Christmas and it was described as excellent condition ex display unit and to be fair it was in perfect nick brand new practically.

Mum let it drain to 0% few days ago and it shut off, since then it refuses to charge, turn on or anything. It's basically dead.

I've tried pretty much everything I've read on the internet, different chargers, multiple different button combinations, leaving it charged for hours etc but it still refuses to do anything.

Could it be a case of the battery being totally fried? Or something more serious like motherboard?

I don't mind bringing it to ismash to get a new battery put in if that's what will fix it. I've messaged the Ebay fella but no response yet.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any help.

You could do with one of those USB power tester meter to see if it's pulling any power when you plug it in. If you haven't got one then it would be best to take it somewhere and they will soon tell you what's up with it.

Have you by any chance tried a charger with a USB A port? With an A to C cable?

I had a similar thing and this combo kicked it into life.
