Google Pixel 7/7 Pro & Pixel Watch

@Kenai

I didn't get on with the S22U due to Samsung's persistentance of bloat and a dated skin. Also the camera whilst decent just doesn't do it for me like the Pixel processing does. Samsung make good hardware but their software leaves a lot to be desired. Even with the Pixel 6 pro dodgy fingerprint sensor and weak signal I chose it over the S22U. Just a more pleasant experience day to day.

Not sure I understand what you mean by "dated skin" - It's basically no different to any other Android 12/13 phone out of the box but just has the bunch of Samsung apps installed - Not that they ate up any resources but yeah I guess kind of annoying seeing them there if you use the stock launcher, all other launchers you can hide them and use whatever Google version you like.

There's always the S22+ if you want the featureset of an S22 with a bigger screen but then you're looking at a £100 list price premium for the 128GB S22+ over the 7Pro.

I don't think Google are ever likely to take aim at proper flagships like the S22U or 14ProMax with the Pixel range.
It's a shame because initially the first few Pixel upgrades were hot on the camera front and they processed and applied a colour grade that looked more pelasing than anything from Samsung/Sony etc, but then the other OEMs caught up and now it's all down to how well the hardware combines with the software.

Ok we know that with updates the camera can be improved, Samsung do it every few months and they have done since the S20 - Having not owned a Pixel yet for the earlier reasons, I don't have first hand experience if Google do the same too, but if they do, then I suspect good things going forwards given that they too promise 5 years of updates.

The only sticking point being no storage options above 256GB :/

I did consider this but the 1080p stream you can see the guy presenting is high detailed as you expect for a 1080p stream but the samples shown on the display behind him are not as detailed as him or the stage which has sharp lines and texture to base a comparison off.

Let's see some reviews I guess yeah.
which photos in particular? as i got the impression that some were showing an old photo from years ago, that can be processed and improved by the current phone, removing blur etc?

those photos looked noticeably worse quality, but to be expected showing a 5 year old photo etc. maybe it was those you thought were bad?

Oh it was the section where they showed the zoom capability and how it uses the stacked images from multiple cameras etc to create the final result. The tennis player one is a prime example, look at the presenter/stage vs the quality of the zoomed image shown on the screen, the stage looks sharp but the zoom image on the screen looks digitised.

Those same images should be available to see on some product promo page though I guess as we've seen that before, so will await for such a page to pop up.

Do you mean the 12mp image that was shown on the massive screen next to the presenter looked a bit pixelated?
Anyway proper reviews cant be far off so should be able to see some slightly more scientific comparisons between the two shortly

It's the 12th the embargo is lifted I think and the reviews can be published. Don't really get the point of them on an announced product?

I'm personally tired of Samsung's. I've had all of them from the original galaxy S up to the S20 including some Notes and that was enough. The skin is too cartoony and colourful for me and every camera I've used on them has a habit of oversaturating.

The bloat got annoying as well, there's just no need to do a version/service copy of every app that Google has done that can't be uninstalled.

That Pro deal with Vodafone 100GB contract for total of £872 on HUKD is pretty insane, even taking RPI increases into account.

You have to order before a certain date to get the watch?
