Google Pixel 7/7 Pro & Pixel Watch

Just ordered the Pixel 7, exactly what I've been waiting for to replace my OnePlus 6T. Was hyped for the Pixel 6 but lack of face unlock killed that for me. Getting free Pixel buds is icing on the cake, as that's my son's birthday present sorted as well.

Right, so Klarna declined me (to do with my delivery address and actual bank account address being different as I essentially generally use a different address) so I've gone through Curry's. Asked the 'Help Chat' which was painstaking to see whether the 14 days to send my Traded in iPhone would start from today if I placed the order, or 14 days from when my new phone (Pixel 7 128Gb Black) arrives. I was told 14 days from when it arrives, but the other end of the webchat was ******* dreadful.

So, my original plan was to save up and buy an iPhone 15 Pro next year (lets say £1100?) and Airpods Pro 2 this weekend (£250) I'd have got maybe £75 at a push for my iPhone X next year. Instead, I've got the Pixel 7 at £600, -£220 for Curry's trade in with Bonus and free buds. no 0% finance for 2 years but man maths is working that out to be around £130 all in?

Lets just hope I can get on with Android this time. Bloatware and numerous apps that did the same thing (ie 3 photo apps, and 2 Text message apps was what ****** me off the first(and second) time around.)

Does anybody know if I added a Pixel Watch to my account via EE if my F&F discount would apply to it or not? Does it apply to the account or to the product? As I currently have a Pixel 6 Pro with EE.

Edit: finally got the EE chat to work and it's applied per line, not to the account itself.

I was thinking about the watch, with its own connection... could be really handy. How can it be used? You can pair BT headphones to it, I assume? Can you then leave your phone at home and make phone calls through it?

Finally decided to bite the bullet and pre-order the Pixel 7 Pro with free Pixel Watch, only to have the order not go through, I think due to the black phone being out of stock. Now for some reason I cannot add anything to my basket as it says there's a limit on how many I can buy, even though there's nothing in my basket.

Think I'm going to go with Currys / CPW.

The +£150 trade in is good. They'll either give me the £150 for an old Samsung Ace which is worthless than I'll sell my Pixel 5 privately, or I'll they'll give me £340 for the Pixel 5 (that includes the =£150).

£850 phone - £150 trade in of old phone - £200 for Pixel 5 = £500. I expect they'll be a bit of a faf to claim the watch - needs to be claimed in November and can take up-to 60 days apparently. But it's cheaper than using the Google Store. (I would get the 10% cashback via the store, but I don't expect I'd actually need it for anything.

What are people going for case and screen protector wise? After smashing my 3XL screen 3 months in (and using it till the 7 arrives next week) I'm wary of making the same mistake again. It's a curved screen so a glass protector might be naff and It'll need to work with the fingerprint sensor. Doesnb't seem to be much available in the UK yet either.

I went for the Hazel so fancy the official case when they're back in stock, although a brown Bellroy leather does also look nice. Anyone know if the official case have space for a metal plate for my car mount (or if the 6 had similar), they never picture in the inside of cases!

I hate glass protectors as they are such a faff to get right, I've used the wet type of stickers for scratches. Works fine with the fingerprint reader too.

Only case that I could find that worked with wireless charging was the moment case and that was expensive. I've used this for my car mount and also works perfectly with the faster charging rates on the pixel stand 2.

Spigen Rugged Armor case for me. Got the same on my Pixel 4 XL and had the same on previous phones. Nice balance between protection and not being too bulky.

No idea about screen protector, usually go tempered glass but like you said this has curved screen and fingerprint sensor so it may prevent that this time?

Whoops just realised I didn't select trade in when ordering from CPW - I'm doing click and collect, do you think they'll sort that for me when I pitch up? I've got a Google Pixel 3 which is worth about £40 but am I correct in thinking that their offer will top this up by another £100?

Traded in my pixel 6 and went for the 7 pro and LTE watch. Really liked my 6 but the fingerprint reader wrecks the experience.
Be glad to have face unlock and surely the fingerprint reader must be better this time :)

I used to work for cpw, they won't be able to fix this. The pixel 7 and the trade-in needs to be on the same sale to get the enhanced trade-in.

There is a way for them to add the trade-in on before it's dispatched however.
