Google Pixel 7/7 Pro & Pixel Watch

Yes, I didn't like it at first but when i tried out Spigen Rugged Armour and Caseology Athlex I found the Bellroy to actually be far superior in terms of fit, feel, look and expected durability.

Some photos of the cases lined up. Rugged Armour is the flimsiest. Athlex is thick. Bellroy is classy.

The drawback on the Bellroy for me is likely not something that will bother others - it doesn't have a front cover (folio style).
Doesn't bother me one bit not having a front cover. The only thing worrying me is that it doesn't hide / protect the side camera visor bit as much as the Spigen ones. But I'll prolly take the plunge once I have decided the P7P is a keeper

I would say more about quality control this time around than actual build quality but still, it's not good enough. I've noticed another small mark on the top of the phone. Return processed and sending it back tomorrow. Not even going to attempt a replacement.

I just put a JETech screen protector on my phone - its more or less killed the fingerprint sensor 100% (even with the Screen Protector Mode on)..

Needless to say that is coming off for a refund.

All of the Pixel 7 screen protectors seem to be rubbish. Tried a Jetech one but it was a bit short by a few mm which created an annoying rainbow effect on the edges. Waiting for the Spigen one to appear, but no idea when that will be.
This good i had on my past pixel 3 and now on pixel 5 but is lots of money.

One of the reason I was hesitant in going for a Google phone again was their lack of build quality. My Google Pixel 5 had a screen coating issue so sent it back and now the 7 has arrived with a scuff in the top right hand corner of the back of the phone. It's going straight back. FFS!

You are assigning build quality to a scuff on the back?

Edit - I see you've corrected it to quality control.

Ahh bad luck there.

As others have stated. You only buy a pixel for AI, camera and the software experience.

Things like SoC performance and build quality don’t seem to be very high on Google’s list.

Oh behave... The build quality is absolutely fine on the 6 I have and, I imagine, the 7 as well given its pretty much the same physical phone.

If you're the kinda guy that compares e-peens with others and get upset about having 1 less FPS than someone else on a phone then I want your problems

Sending my Pixel 7 back for a refund. Great looking phone and seems nicely built, but I've found it too heavy & thick - specs show it only being 12g heavier and 0.5mm thicker than my current phone, but somehow it feels like a brick in comparison.

My search for a suitable replacement continues!

To be fair it's what you agreed to when you ordered. The bonus of ordering direct was that you didn't have to wait for your watch/buds
Ah, I didn't know this was only for Curry's. I'd have ordered from Google if the Klarna stuff hadn't taken the ****.

Alas, does anyone have any suggestions for some wireless car charging mounts? In the past I've used a magnetic one on my iPhone which was great and planned to use the same on my pixel. But before I order a new magnetic plate I wondered if a wireless charging mount might be a good way to go

What I can say is I'm enjoying the phone so far; taking a bit of getting used to having been on iOS for 12 years but the swipe features that weren't a thing last time I tried Android is very familiar and making a big difference.

Another question!!! When I swipe up from the home screen it brings up a whole list of all of my apps. I changed a setting when prompted by accident and now my keyboard pops up. It is Hella frustrating cause if I try to scroll down from anywhere in the bottom half of the screen I accidentally start swipe typing and I lose the list of apps until I swipe back to home, then swipe up again. I've looked through settings but I dont know what I'm actually looking for in order to change the setting.

I got the Spigen NeoFlex, seems OK for a film protector. A bit messy fitting it with the spray trying to avoid fingerprints underneath. No different to the film protector that was prefitted on my S10.

Would prefer tempered glass but obviously curved screen means that isn't necessarily going to be available.
I probably would have gone for the same one if I had the Pro. As I've got the basic 7 I'll probably wait for a decent tempered glass protector, if one ever comes out!

Open app drawer, press 3 dots in top search box, toggle always show keyboard (Based on my Pixel 5)

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. Does seem pricey, but don't mind if it's worth it.

Which phone do you currently have out of interest?

Having Google assistant on the wrist is pretty amazing. Voice detection is impeccable and commands actioned fast and looks great on the watch screen.

GPay on the wrist is super convenient. Though must remember not to get too close and scratch the thing.

I agree with MKB that the recents button isn't super easy to get to but it's easy enough. Plus the dome design more than makes up for it.
The watch really is the key to getting (and keeping) people in the ecosystem. Glad you’re enjoying it mate.

New to this os.

On home screen 8bwant to get rid of that tiny clock and weather.. and that stupid search bar.

Please help I've been at this and googling for 30 mins, driving me nuts they aren't widgets?

You’ll have to install a new launcher as it’s baked into stock Android.

Pfffft why would they do that.
This phones getting a tad more annoying by the hour.
Tomorrow I'll play with the camera. That's one of the reasons I wanted it after all.

Can you not press and hold to remove the widgets? Never seen a widget that can't be removed on any previous Pixel device. (P7P doesn't arrive until tomorrow)
