Google Pixel 7/7 Pro & Pixel Watch

Mine has just been approved too :)

On another note, I took some side-by-side shots on my phone against my Fujifilm X-T4 during my lunch break and it's incredibly close, even cropped in at 100% there's very little in it. Kinda depressing really!

Yeah, approved here too. Can't wait for the buds to arrive but hoping it doesn't take anywhere near the max of the 60 days they've stated.

I rarely use my RX100M2 and Nikon D810 now, as they say the best camera is the one you have with you, it's mad really how good phone cameras are now.

Makes you laugh how expensive that RX line was getting. Year on year there was a hefty premium.

Been chatting about this elsewhere, the sensor is almost as big as a 1" so even the premium compacts are being caught up with. But it's not just image quality, there's also portability seeing as you already have your phone on you, convenience, integration with sharing and social media, instant access to editing tools and of course cost benefits as you don't need to buy a dedicated compact camera now.

I believe there will still be many instances where a dedicated camera is the better choice, but for general stuff the PP7 is a no brainer for me.

I've been using a Pentax KP myself and have sold it to help purchase this Pixel 7 Pro. I just haven't been able to use the DSLR to justify keeping it as it devalues over time, and even to justify carrying it alongside the set of primes compared to my smartphone.

I might purchase an old Canon 5D and an 85mm 1.8 at MPB just because that combination produces a look that I don't think I can easily replicate with other gear.

RE: Pixel Promo 2022 Claim - I was waiting until midnight yesterday but fell asleep! :D Went to the registration this morning at around 10am and got the notification both via email and text confirming that I've been approved just before 5pm earlier today. I opted for a Champagne Gold/Hazel watch to match it with the same-coloured Pixel 7 Pro I got. I'm still in two minds on whether to use it or sell it on as I really like the Apple watch system, and the complete disconnect between Fitbit and Google Fit kinda irks me.

Was just out at that GlasGLOW event this evening, basically a light show around a large dark park and rather than take my A9 with the 35mm f/1.4 as I would normally do, which is a fairly discreet setup, I just relied on my PP7 and it was oh so easy.

I've only looked at the images on the phone screen (which always look great to be fair) but when zooming in I can see what a great job it has done, especially with handling the rather large dynamic range from the bright lights to the dark park whilst retaining good clarity. I'm not sure what they would look like printed, but I'm unlikely to print any of them anyway - they will be Facebooked lol

I went with a Spigen Liquid Air cover for my Pixel 7, having had a Spigen case for my iPhone for the last few years. Feels really nice in the hand and feels as if it will definitely protect the phone well when I drop it.

Also I spent more than I normally do and on suggestions from here I went for an LK screen protector. The installation kit was on point, using the tool to ensure that the protector is lined up properly. One tiny air bubble right at the bottom of the screen but really impressed with it so far; no issues with fingerprint sensor or any other screen use. I'm never buying a cheap £4 screen protector ever again.

Finally, I've had an e-mail this evening from Currys trade in stating that they have received my iPhone X and have processed the payment. £220 in to my bank this evening and with claiming the Buds Pro this morning in my head (man maths0 the phone has cost me £130 all in. (£600 -£220 trade in, -£250 I had planned to spend on Airpods Pro 2's which I don't need to buy because of the free Pixel Buds) and I'm pretty happy having moved from iOS after 11 years.

What do you need to claim a pair of pixel buds? :P
I can muster up a UK address... Do I need a UK receipt? That might be hard lol

If you have ordered directly from Google within the promotional period you should get the freebie with your order of the Pixel phone. Other retailers you have to claim

Whitestone screen protector came yesterday. Install didn't go too bad, pleased with the result and feels much nicer than the tpu film protector I had previously.
