Google Pixel 9 Series (9/9 Pro/9 Pro XL/9 Pro Fold & Pixel Watch 3)

Yeah min font size is already low, but as mentioned this is how my nova is set up.

On another note, I have been observing a strange quirk, I'm on EE and in the network>SIMs screen there is no option to toggle network mode as I prefer to use 4G instead of 5G, the speeds are typically the same anyway at around 400Mbps average but 5G always drains more battery as not all areas I'm around have strong enough signal for the radio to not be laboured on 5G.

Now the option to toggle isn't in there at all, and also no VoLTE option. EE has not enabled 5G calling yet so when you make a call on 5G it reverts to 4G for HD voice (when calling a regular number) or HD+ when calling another phone compatible with HD+. I can see the icons in the call history next to each number be it wifi calling or HD voice, but the indicator icon in the notification tray always shows 5G whereas on other phones it has always shown 4G and VoLTE icons when actively using 4G etc. The S24 Ultra shows the icons exactly as expected and has all the options so this does seem like a specific issue with the Pixel. I even put the SIM into the Doogee S200 and the 4G + VoLTE icons appeared that, the S200 uses stock Android 14.

I phoned EE and the guy I spoke to was equally puzzled, he could see on their back end the frequencies I was connecting each call at which indicated the phone was indeed using 4G for calls when not using wifi calling, and as far as he knew the option to pick a network mode and choose VoLTE should be in network settings. He sounded like one of us to be fairy, and said he lives for this sort of weird puzzle to try to get to the bottom of :D

As a last resort for the evening he reset my SIM and pushed a SIM update through so I had to restart the phone. He will call me back later in the evening to find out if there's been any change and in the meantime I have been doing my own research and found a tech menu in the Pixel dialler *#*#4636#*#* - Go into the Phone Information option at the top and here you can see connected modes, metrics and a dropdown selector to choose network mode. The NR referred t in the default selection is 5G, it should be defaulting to NR/LTE/WCDMA, I can select LTE/CDMA which enables 4G, the CDMA being 2G fallback for emergencies which is normal and now I can see 4G being displayed up top, though still no VoLTE indicator but the fact that I can see "HD" next to the call log entries tells me 4G voice is working as intended, just randomly for some reason the Pixel 9 is not giving the options in settings to toggle them manually.

Rather a weird one but everything seems to be working...

TCB paid out for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

TCB 133
Store credit 166
Device cost 750 after trade in.
Free buds pro 2 with 180 on ebay but keeping

S24 cost me 280, traded in for 914.

So 750 - 166 - 133- 180 + 280 = ~ £550 for the Fold all in.

Add to that a years 2tb plan and gemini pro...

I wonder if the GUI options not appearing is due to the "Adaptive Connectivity" feature.
Im on EE as well and dont see the manual preferred network option.

Nope I've restarted with that setting off as well! The only way to switch beteen network mode is using the tech menu code mentioned it seems.

Its the same for the pixel 7 pro on EE (though with a vodafone sim installed the 5g/4g toggle option is there as expected) - the only way to disable 5G (at least on EE with a pixel 7 pro) is to dial *#*#4636#*#* , select phone information, expand phone information and choose an option that has LTE but not NR. I'd expect it to be the same on the 9
No idea how or why EE have disabled but it does appear to orginate from them.

*doh never mind i see you've already done this!*

Yeah it's definitely a network driven option, whether 15 on the P9 is interpreting the setting from EE in an unexpected way I don't know but I've got the option to turn it on/off from the main menu using ID Mobile.

In that's creenn too, if you clock the 3 dot menu and select IMS info you can see it shows 4G voice as available in both 4G and 5G active states so definitely all working as expected, just the toggles are gone on the EE SIM in the usual place!

Decent!
I'm still waiting for them to assess my pixel 8 from last Monday, I could really do with that £545 soon lol

I'm puzzled as to the TCB I'm earning on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold

Cash back is currently pending at £56.48.

The Pro 9 Fold was £1,749, and I received the following discounts
5% means £87.45 so £1,661.55 for the phone
I then had £765 for my original Pixel Gold trade in

Top cash back has the purchase at £1,328.94 - I can't see how TCB got to this figure?

Google has the following summary:
Start £1,968 (Phone + Buds 2 Pro)
Discount £306.45 (5% on the Buds 2 Pro @ 10.95, 208.05 for the remainder of the Buds 2 Pro value, and £87.45 for 5% of the phone value)
Total £1,661.55

I would have thought the cash back would have been on the £1,661.55?

Cashback is generally calculated on amount minus VAT so looks about right to be tracking at £1,328.94

The macro feature requires a bit of manual intervention as when left to auto, usually changes lens by itself when you don't want it, so manual toggle is necessary, and then you get some really fine control over the shot up to 3cm from the object with any lens. 1x normal vs 5x in macro mode:

Also in the More Settings bit under advanced, disable Ultra HDR, all it does is boosts highlight area exposure as if photos are actual HDR contents on the phone when viewed back blowing out those highlights. Keeping it off reverts to the normal HDR+ mode which is the way it should be for classic Pixel processing output.

Got this wireless charging pad for £11 as noticed my old Choetech dual 18W one wasn't charging the XL fast enough like it does on the S24 Ultra, seems Pixel will drop to 12W wireless charging if the pad doesn't output at least 20W... Quite the picky queen.

I'm using a QC3.0 Anker power brick and it seems to register the same charge rate as the Anker GaN 45W brick I also have so it's definitely charging at around 20W via both.

On the S24 Ultra I didn't have much luck getting Black Magic Camera producing good quality video quality but on the XL it seems excellent and considerably better motion panning quality than the Pixel camera for video recording. Also lots of manual control. I highly recommend it.

Supports all 3 cameras too

Quick launch it via double tap back cover to launch, makes both cameras now easy to access.

Thought I would update that the worthless old phone I sent back as a trade in for the Pixel 9 Pro I bought has finally been assessed in accordance with the estimated value I was given - £260 (£60+£200 bonus trade in), so other than slightly long turnaround time, a reasonably positive PCS Wireless experience!

Anyone got recommendations for a charger that can do PPS 21v ? Quick search in google and it seems not many from anker ugreen can do 21v.
Is 21v really needed? Can it have lower volt but higher amps to get the 45w?

I like the google charger but it only has 1 port. Ideally i want 2 or 3 ports

Not many at all. All. I've seen is the official Google one.

Why Google didn't make it the same as the PPS Samsung one is mind boggling.

All this talk about saving the environment with unified chargers is absolute BS.
