Google Pixel and Pixel XL

I have an s7e and it's pretty good but considering switching to the Pixel because the software seems so much better. Touch wiz on the s7 is pretty decent but mine lags a fair bit now and then and I won't see nougat till next year. If Samsung can finally get the software right it'd be great. But IMO they're still not quite there.

Same, will sell my S7 Edge to my brother and get the Pixel XL.

I posted on the Samsung Note 7 thread that I believe an unexpected beneficiary of the Samsung Note 7 debacle is likely to be the Google Pixel. I wonder if Google will accelerate the launch of the Pixel, currently timed to start in 9 days on 20 October to take full advantage, or whether they stick to the original timetable?

Hmmmm....

He films in portrait, I'm not sure I would trust him tbh...

Cause rushing a launch worked well for the Note 7? :p

Yeah that bugged me too, but hey.

More pics from it here, camera looks amazing.

The more I read of this thing the more I'm liking the look of it... That price though. I'd want the 128GB XL version. :(

Yeah, I keep getting so close to hitting 'Buy'. I was lining up an XL Black 128GB then I see all the 128GB are sold out...

Why not 64GB and 128GB... 32GB? :(

Pre ordered. 128GB XL in Silver/white

Had enough of this Note 7 saga.

£819, a LOT of mula but when I use my phone every day including for work (work pays for it too!) it's a worth while investment.

They best not have exploding phone issues.

Now to discuss my options with O2 and get this thing sent back.

ETA on the Pixel was 4-5 weeks, is that correct? Or an over estimate?

Rush to create a problem on design or battery choice? No, but I believe we are beyond that stage. Surely the Pixels to be sold are either in store awaiting authorisation to sell or are in transit from supplier. Do you believe accelerating either creates a Samsung 7 type issue?

Seems to me that the Samsung Note 7 debacle was either caused by a faulty battery from Samsung SDI and Amperex of China or by Samsung's design of the phone packing the battery in too tightly. Have you heard any other theories?

As mentioned, I expect the Samsung Note 7 debacle has caused an unexpected boost in demand for the Pixel phones including your selection. I pre-ordered my 32 GB Silver Pixel XL on launch day last week (4 Oct) and was told delivery was expected 24-26 October (approx 3 weeks). But as you know, the official launch date is currently 20 Oct.

Moreover, my order was ahead of the latest Samsung Note 7 chapter of ceasing worldwide production and selling of any Note 7. Initially I believed that the Samsung Note 7 replacement was going to fix the problem and that things would blow over for Samsung. Now with the latest news I am wondering if the damage to the Samsung brand will be much more severe? You may know that shares of Samsung Electronics dropped over 8% in Seoul today after the latest news broke.

Sorry, I didn't realise you don't know what smilies mean. I was messing about.

.... :p

Out of stock? I've just added a black 128GB XL to my basket.

Sure, delivery 5 to 6 weeks. Cause they've sold out?

I really don't want to use CPW again, but they have 128GB in stock and a £50 Play voucher means I guess I'll have to...

Now I will look out for those smiles. Sorry!!

£820 for a phone?

looks like the world is going mad. for that i could buy a decent phone, ps4, xb1 and a decent laptop.

Hmm..... I'd give you decent phone and a console, possibly even both but there's no way you'd get decent laptop as well
IMO decent laptops start at about £400 which barely leaves you with enough to buy 2 consoles

It is a crazy price though but hey it is what it is. If only the pound was stronger......

One thing in favour of the iPhone price is that they tend to hold their value much better than other phones. Not sure that the Pixel will do the same due to minimal demand.

Network exclusivity has basically killed any temptation I had toward buying this. Too little competition; the prices are crazy. I haven't paid more than £35/month for a handset contract since the Xperia X1 back in 2008. Can't justify buying one outright.

are you all so sure iphones hold their value so well in comparison? i'm not saying they don't, but i keep hearing it without any real proof.

can someone work out this.

how much was the 6P worth a year ago. a phone that hardly anyone knew about, not at all marketed. then how much can i be sold second hand for now. mine is in brand new condition, i've seen prices of £300 said, perhaps more if it's in such a good condition. I think i paid £550 for this brand new. so that's £250 lost.

Anyone do a comparison for iphone 6S and confirm my prices for 6P?

i'm not entirely convinced iphone will be better or enough to even be a reason to buy an iphone over a pixel phone.

also take into account nexus 6P is not a marketed phone. Pixel will be different 100%.

Is this likely to appear on other networks later down the line? I saw it had EE exclusivity but usually phones sort of appear on other networks via third party stores.

I like the XL, but it HAS to be 128GB if it's got no expandable memory, and the prices EE are charging are extortionate.

Really stuck with what to get as an upgrade now, really wanted the Note 7, the Pixel XL looks to be stupidly expensive, the S7E doesn't have the same appeal for some reason.
