Google Pixel and Pixel XL

A few nights ago I noticed Google Live Cases for the XL went "live". I chose a personal photo of the family and designed the case around it using this site. I think it is real cool but is expensive at £ 35. You decide but to me that adds something quite individualistic. By the way, there is a wait time on the order. I chose it on 18 Oct and delivery is 4-8 November. But well worth it.

When it arrives in early November I will comment on it again.

I've went for a rugged armor as I'm more interested in device protection rather than aesthetics.

Cool cases them though, will show the wife as she may be interested!

Pixel v Water

Despite an IP53 rating, the Pixel appears to stand up to water better than I might have expected. Forget the 5 in IP53 for this purpose....that rating is anti-dust which is a high rating. It is the 3 that folks get worked up about. That is resistance against water. So the 3 basically means that it can withstand small water spills, a bit of rain, or being kept in a wet environment (wet pocket?).

But it seems the Pixel is able to withstand a bit more than all that.

Check this video out because this guy even submerged the Pixel under water for 30 minutes. Looks very promising!

What do you think? Should the lack of a higher IP rating hold back interest in Pixel phones?

I believe 20th is the official date - I went to the UK 'Google Experience store' in London - they really need to sort that out, it's not much of an experience. The guy there was friendly enough, but the fact they don't have their first flagship device on display, and won't, until it's day of release, isn't exactly building the hype.

Just to add to the shoddiness of this pop-up - went there at lunchtime today to check the Pixels out - they were all connected to a WiFi network which didn't actually have working internet. As a result, assistant didn't work, Instagram didn't work, YouTube didn't work, you know, most of the stuff you use a smartphone for, didn't work.

Excellent product marketing Google!

Has anybody found any nice cases or wallets for this yet? I've got a 1p wallet on it's way from Amazon as a temporary solution but I can't find anything decent to use permanently.

I ordered a Pixel 128gb from Google direct and delivery was estimated for 27th. I've now received an email telling me it's shipped... It's being sent by UK Mail... Is this a 24 hour service?

Anyone bought from the Google store?

Yes, I think it's usually a next day service, but I don't know if they deliver on weekends so it might be Monday...
