Google Pixel and Pixel XL

Just got my 128Gb Silver Pixel. Great phone. Just one question though, and perhaps showing my unwillingness to try new things, but I am still using APEX launcher with DashClock. However, ignoring the DashClock but, I seem unable to add, organise or remove any of the home screens from Apex Launcher settings. I click on add, move, remove and it just takes me back to the 1st home page.

Any ideas?

One thing I have noticed in the now nearly 4 weeks since owning the Pixel XL, having the Nexus 6 immediately before: the XL is more comfortable to carry around and I always do.

I never thought I would say it but with the Nexus 6 there were times I did not carry the 6 as it just seemed too big, despite my delight at owning a phablet for the greater screen size for viewing text and video. Now I feel I do not own a phablet, but a phone. And I do not feel I have compromised on screen quality.

I imagine some will make this argument even more so with the Pixel rather than Pixel XL, but I make it anyway. I have a big hand so the XL seems extremely optimal in terms of size.

I would, but I paid for it so I feel obligated to carry on.....

forcing yourself to use a launcher that hasnt been update to support Nougat (or even marshmellow i think ??) just because you paid for it makes no sense - you know that. Just use nova until Apex is updated (if ever). Its not like you have to pay for nova as it's free unless you want the fancy paid features, which are worth it IMO :)

Very reasonable price.

I cannot see why this phone is so expensive. Someone please explain.

Google are trying rebranding themselves to the Apple model basically, developing their own hardware and are moving to a solution where by the if you need the very latest updates it comes at a high cost.

None of the Pixel phones are worth the cash in the same way that iPhones are not either but value for money and common sense are not exactly at the forefront of a punters noodle when buying something new and shiny.

Plus the fact that for the cash all the Pixel handsets are pigdog ugly.

I kinda liked the bland look of the Pixel, It'd look sleeker If the top and bottoms bezels were a bit slimmer.
Back of the phone was an eye sore however, the glass is pointless there's still atenna bands on the back...

Google really ought to have priced it lower.

Defo curious to see next years Pixel, its a good start.

Doesn't look I'll be getting the Pixel from CPW anytime soon.

My Nexus 4 died last week after 4 years of solid service. I've always bought my phone either directly from the operator, or Sim Free and chosen a sim only contract. However as the price of the Pixel sim free is out of reach for myself at the moment, I decided to go through CPW for one of their deals.

Last week I tried to purchase the Pixel on contract on a weekend special offer, however after placing the order on-line I receieved an e-mail 5 minutes later stating my card had been declined. I tried again the same night and it was declined again.

I phoned customer service the next day and they said they could process the payment again but couldn't honour the price and wanted an extra £100 upfront, hence I declined.

Fast forward a week and I spotted the Pixel on a tariff I wanted at a reasonable price again, placed an order last night and got confirmation e-mail and no follow up payment declined e-mail! Result!

However, this afternoon I receieved an e-mail stating I had failed a credit check. Knowing this was BS (recently had an experian report of 999), I phoned them up all 3 of the unhelpful "customer service" team stated my account had been locked for 30 days due to me trying to place multiple orders.

Apparently there's no way they can remove this lock for 30 days? What sort of joke is this? I fail to believe there's no one at CPW who can remove the lock? I just want to give them money!

I think you were very unlucky!

I wonder if your "multiple orders" had anything to do with Google's recent crackdown on a reseller scam in the US, specifically concerning "Dan's Deals", which violated Google's Terms of Service?

I am not saying that you had anything like this in mind, far from it, but Google appears highly sensitive to this issue and perhaps told their resellers like Carphone Warehouse to be vigilant?

Hmmm....
