I've always just formatted the cad in the gopro, not sure what file system it uses and how/if it splits larger files. It's just a fire and forget for me.

Buy a 64gb MicroSd and grab a sd card converter for it (some come with them) to then use in the DSLR.

Good shout, got a microSD to SD converter though there is no chance in hell I am taking my D5200 to a snowy mountain .

Bought a 3-bay battery charger and will have 4 batteries in all

I use an SD card converter, so much easier to get the footage off now as it just acts like a USB key.

I liked my Hero3+ Black Edition so much I bought another for my ski trip ive just came back off.
